I've set the date for the Sparring Event on May 12th. As usual we will go for a Saturday and start in the afternoon to allow people from all timezones to enter. It will be an event, not a tournament, so that those that can be there for only 2-3 hours can still participate and have fun!

Event description, part I:
In a contest, the way it’s traditionally set up, each match will be judged. The winner of each match will be going to the next round and fight other winners, till there are two fighters in a finale. However... this poses some problems when organizing a tournament online. What if the fighter who won the first fight, doesn't have the time to stick around for the second round? And what of those comming late? And what if only three people sign up? We’ve all seen those problems surfacing at other occasions.
So... to avoid those problems, we will have a demonstration instead!
Instead of a system in which people are paired up, people are allowed to 'challenge' each other. The individual matches are still judged, but there isn't a system with rounds. After your fight you are free to recover, just sit and watch, or challenge someone else. At the end of the event, an 'overall champion' is chosen based on the left over judges conferring, or by public acclamation. If people can't come to a consensus, the queen will appoint an overall winner

How the event will go:
- People start assembling at 3 pm EST. You can join in later as time allows. Probably the most intense sparring periods will be afternoon and later on the evening. - You can challenge someone before the event, or you can look between those that are assembling for a sparring partner. Come on... admit it... there certainly are a few people you’ve always wanted to take the measure of the pits, right? Just a friendly measuring of strength... a duel for honour... a hope for the favour of a lady... any reason is good, as long as malice isn’t amongst it! - When two people agree upon a spar, they ask for a judge to be appointed to them. Although there will be judges available, you can also volunteer a judge, or volunteer to judge other spars. Never your own of course. - When sparring candidates and judge are agreed upon, you will be assigned a colour to add to your codes. . All sparring posts for that match will be in the same colour. (for example: blue). Each combatant writes one posts describing how he looks, is armed, etc, and then the spar itself can begin! - After each spar, both competitors are free to challenge someone else, have their wounds tended to, or be scolded by loving wives and daughters for taking unnecessary risks. One of the judges will offer the result as much as possible. - As the end of the event draws near, those that have been asked to judge during the event may compare notes and amongst themselves decide who may be called champion of the event - The champion of the tournament will receive a prize for himself and has the right to appoint a Queen of beauty who will hold that title till the next sparring event is organized.

It has not yet happened. We have judges for the 3-2 system, but if someone can provide his own judge and find someone willing, we'd allow prodigy too. 3-2 is the system that is worked in WS though. The judges are experienced and have a very good idea of what is realistic.
