It be very early in the morn...dawn barely chased away the night and chill be stil in the air as on the courtyard , the soft , muffled sounds be heard of a company ready to leave. Nae as descrete as the Lady Beren would have wished, for the amounts of guards and Rangers that will escort her on her journey, but still quiet enough. afew days ago, a letter had arrived from her lands - the typical steward's letter , an account of how the winter had passed. But enclosed was also a litlle note from Messire de Vraineville, telling her that he still felt it necessary to keep an eye on Lune.
With the Spring in the air came the restlessness, so the Lady had seized the opportunity with both hands. She would travel to her lands, for a visit and to hear the reports of the steward . That be the official version... besides that, she would see how close eventually His Majesty of France was, in what state her defences were and more of such. And ....a smile brightnening the Ladies face when she thinks of this reason, she would look what she could do for Lady Letha's hope chest .
She felt very happy for both the Lady and the Norseman.
Coming into the courtyard , the lute on her back, she watches the company for a moment. His Majesty had kindly insisted upon quite a number of guards, who now be all assembled. Her steed Bayard, held steady by a proud Perran, shows her usual signs of impatience...next to them stands Horatio, tall and fair ,with the lass mary at his side...and of course the sturdy postures of Ranger Richard and Wilfred be seen close to Bayard.
Waking up from her moment of contemplation, Lady Beren walks to the company , ruffles Perrans hair and gives the sign to mount. In no time, and as silently as they can, the company departs...leaving Windstorm Castle in the growing light of the rising sun.
