Mollie had protested something fierce... said she wasn't good enough yet. Not strong enough yet. That she should rest more. But she had rested herself so long, and she felt better. Weak as a child still, but the fevers had left her it seemed, and each day was a day gained. So she had asked Mollie and Millie to help dress her in a gown and wrapper, and then to settle her in a chair within her room. Despite her confinement... rumours had seeped through. And she was going to deal with them. It was her duty... she was her fathers daughter now...
And so the word had been send... to all women of Windstorm to please attend a small gathering in the Lady Edfeils room, to discuss plans, the womens way.

*She held the small tray carefully with one hand and opened the door with the other. Her eyes glanced about the room, taking in her surroundings once more, she was quite suprised to see the Lady Edfiel out of bed and seated.
As she placed the tray down and sat herself upon the bed in her normal way...she looked again at the lady who seemed for that moment, to remind her of a Queen sitting in readiness to meet her people.*
"M'Lady...... are ye sure ye be up to an audience this soon......the girls tell me ye have requested the ladies of the Castle to ye room."

*She looked at her friend and her first reply was to reach out an almost skelet like hand, as if she searched support. Her eyes smiled warm, and there was the quiet light of determination within them when she whispered* 't is time, aye? We must do... something, well or nae... And ye will help me. We must... prepare all together... But I will rest again after the meeting. Me father would be... displeased... iffen I took an ill turn again.

*She took care with her words....the last thing she wished 'twas for the lady to become upset....but 'twas clear still that she was nae well enough to return to her own duties, let alone instruct others.*
"Aye..... aye we must prepare...and much be done already M'Lady whilst ye have been poorly. Do ye nae think ye Father 'twould rather ye were better ..lest ye be another thing fe him to fret over."
*Indeed there was still much to be done, and she had worked herself hard the last few weeks.......a corner had been turned and yet....the days ahead would see them all with far too much upon their shoulders. She simply smiled and hoped for the best.....'twas all she could do, knowing the Lady be as stubborn as her Father.*

They brushed aside the manly folk at the Gate.. for they e're be on a mission. Wagging a finger at the guard on duty , Maud lectured him on the finer points of treating a "Lady" , whilst Mabel disabled the Guard named *Able* with...ummm..an ample *smile*. Entering the inner sanctium of the Castle , they looked about at the sevants and nearly died at the poor state of dress of the wretched girls!!. Then entering the kitchen , they proceeded to take to task Cook (in unison)..Now ye tuck thyself in mista Cook , ye ought ta be ashamed of yaself an all.. Turning their attention to the task at hand, they scoot up to the *Lady Edfeils* chambers, and with a withering glance and a high pitched request, they demand of the ,(strong and well developed guard) , let us in to see the Lady Edfeil or suffer our company for the next 24 hours !!!! Well young man...did ye hear us

One of the chambermaids had brought a message that Lady Edfeil required my presence in her chamber. I drew a long breath, composing my face in to the proper demeanor to meet the princess.
The tears I had forced back, hearing the church bells ringing the Angelus, were beginning to break through again, and for a moment I wished wearily, that I could let them come, but I knew I must face the princess with a calm demeanor, no sign of the tears I had shed earlier in the day.
I moved towards the door of her chamber as if my entire body and soul were locked into one great knot of anguish.

*She opened the door and was suprised to come face to face with two rather well endowed ladies and the very beautiful Lady Rayven. She glanced back towards both The Princess and Lady Loxley, as if to gain approval, then, at their gestures, she curtsied to all three and beckoned them in.*

She blinked, almost owlish at the view of those two unexpected ladies within her room. Her smile was warm 'twards Lady Rayven afore her look went to the two unknown women again. Although... unknown? When she looked closer she could see a familiarity in their features, and when they mentioned nephews, in one terrifying moment, she knew who was spoken about.*
Ah... ehm... I've nae... seen goodman Watson nor Cedric... ehm goodwomen. Nae in some days. I've been a wee bit... ill ye see. But... do come in.. I be feeling much, much better already...
*With those words, she glanced to Lady Dream for reaffirmation, then held out her hands to Lady Rayven. She saw a sadness 'pon her face and a fear that rivalled her own. Nae asking questions that could hurt the heart, she simply send her a look filled with compassion.*
Forgive me iffen I called ye out of things ye were busy with. I... The men... they be preparing for the worst. I thought we women.. should do the same... I expect the rest to come soon, and thank the Good Lord Lady Beren nae be home at this moment at least...

My hands lightly touched Edfeil’s, again feeling tears choking at the back of my throat, but managing to swallow and present a calm demeanor in front of her
Edfeil’s voice was soft and she sat upon the chair in her room with stately elegance despite the wan look still upon her face. I was folded into a warm and scented embrace as my cheek brushed against hers lightly.
I relaxed and drew in a breath in swift compunction as I took a seat next to her and Lady Loxley whose own words of comfort had gone a long ways in seeing me through the worst of this morning.
I am at your disposal M’lady. Please tell me what it is you wish me to do.

The "small gathering" was already swelling the capacity of the Princess' room when Letha threaded her way to it as requested by the invitation. She'd not changed into anything more elegant, still wearing the faded skirt and blouse, dusting off a tiny bit of clinging sand as she entered, quietly slipping in behind the Lady Rayven and awaiting a break in the ongoing conversations . .

*glancing up, she saw lady Halethala too had joined the gathering. For a moment her eyes closed as she summoned strength. She'ld need to get back to bed after the meeting, for already she was spending some of her strength. With a simple gesture she invited the Lady to take place as well, then looked around. Lady Laurestina was still ill, Lady Siya busy for the defense of the castle, and Lady Beren and Sadhbh were travelling... For now... 't would be the four of them!*
I hope ye will all forgive me for pulling ye from yer tasks... she started But I hear the men to be ... preparing for the worst. I remember the attacks.. two years ago*her gaze crossed that of Lady Dream who had lost so much during those times*I fear I will nae be able to take the duties 'pon me that I did then. And I hoped mayhap we could... prepare better, so we would know what to do to... aide our men, and.. sooth their hurts...

*She stayed sitting upon the bed......a nod in greeting accompanied by a warm smile as each Lady presented herself to the Princess Edfeil. The looks upon their faces showed they were concerned still for her well being and were ready and willing to do all she asked of them.
As the Princess spoke....so all listened...the glance over as she mentioned the last war brought memories back that were not wanted at this time.....she shifted upon the bed slightly uncomfortable.
All the while her thoughts were with her beloved......she hoped she knew how to aid him...to sooth his hurts.....she smiled to herself then. The love between them would help them both in the coming days...she gathered her strength from him.....he kept her heart within his and would know she was safe and not a burden to him as he went about his duties. Nodding to the Princess....smiling to the ladies.....she felt sure they would all do their best in these troubled times and waited to hear more.*
