It had been a couple of days, a couple of rougher days than she had expected. Having been years since she had been with a newborn child, she had forgotten just now sleep deprived one could be. When added to the duties she already had in place, let's just say that it was trying. By this time, news had spread thru the Bluff's lands of the birth of their son. However, that was not the only ones who deserved to know such a thing. It was this, that she was doing today.
Settling down in a chair in the library, she had the babe laying on blankets next to her. Glancing down at him once to ensure he was still sleeping, she smoothed out the parchment and picked up the quill, dipping it down into the ink and began writing
Greetings Queen Edfeil,
I hope that this letter finds you and yours in good health and spirits for the winter months. The winter here is a bit lighter than we are used to, I am thankful for that. I can only hope that your Home is experiencing the same good luck.
I am writing to inform you of the birth of Macleod's and my child. He is a healthy boy that we have named Nicholas Bryce Keane. So far he is doing well, keeping us up at all hours, but I believe that is what a newborn is supposed to do. Nicole is beside herself at the enjoyment of having a wee ones to spoil and play with.
There is also the birth of Gideon and Shea Ravenor's son to announce. His name is Ardyn Macleish Ravenor. He is strong and healthy as are the parents. He was born roughly a month before my own son was and it is my hope that they grow up to become good friends.
It is my hope that by the end of the summer months, that maybe we can arrange for you to meet the boy, or maybe boys depending if Gideon and Shea will allow the babe to travel. If not, I am sure that Nicole will be more than willing to travel to tell you tales of them both.
Be well,
Athena
She blew over the ink then spread sand over it to let it dry. Once it was, she folded it and then sealed it with wax and the seal of the Bluff embedded into the wax. Walking to the door and asking for a messenger to come here. It wasn't long til one appeared. She smiled and handed the young man the letter along with where it went to and watched as he exited the room. She did have a little more to catch up on today while Nicolas slept, so she turned back to the table and picked up another sheet of parchment.
