Puffed out chest....beaming smile...... a few stray tears and that emotional feeling that overwhelms. Goosepimples, a shiver, disbelief and finally ............. YES!!
London is to host the 2012 Olympics......... wonderful news and so welcome by all those who believed it could happen. I congratulate the team who have worked so hard, they delivered an incredible and worthy bid, one that reflected the ordinary people and youth of today. The video well worth looking at in my view...and such a great song to accompany it by Heather Small.
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Still so many answers I don't know
Realise that to question is how we grow
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
We need a change
Do it today
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change
So do it today
'Cause I can see a clear horizon
I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
As we celebrate this good news, the nation also remembers the end of World War 2........60 years ago this week. Many stories have been told to me by family and friends of their experiences............hard to comprehend at times, exactly what they all went through so that I could be born and grow up in a free Country. TV has given an insight to those days for both the armed forces and the people left behind in the UK.I shall always be grateful for those sacrifices, and perhaps even more so today as I can say with all honesty how proud I am and always have been to be British.
I felt the need to share ;D
