(I will not ruin the suspense by telling you how Alita came to be in Windstorm as that play still continues on the boards. I did however want to offer what I could and I thank Sinold for accepting my offer to help here)
Something was going on in the castle as I recovered in Windstorm. My mood had been quiet and meditative in my waking hours and I tried to move my muscles in small exercises even though the pain in my left shoulder was very bad. I gleaned most of my information from the chatty twins as they would clean the room. Milli and Molly were very friendly and very gossipy. Without asking them any questions they would talk of all that was going on. I listened though I found their accent a bit hard to follow on occasions when they got overexcited and talked too fast. Most of their news these days was about a challenge. This information troubled me but I was in no shape to help.
On this day I sat on a window seat overlooking a garden as the rays of winter sun warmed me. As my eyes took in the little signs of spring arriving. Noting the little outcrops of green buds, I heard news of a wedding. More importantly the news that a scroll needed making. The girls nearly fainted when I turned to them and asked them what was needed. At last I felt that there was something I could offer these kind people who had sheltered me these days.
The girls filled me in on all that was required and what names and times and I asked them to aid me on getting a few supplies. I needed parchment and I needed ingredients to make colour pigments to paint with. I also needed hair from a horses’ main or tail to help me make my own brushes. Some wood sticks for the brushes and fine, strong silken thread like that used for embroidery to help me wind the horsehairs to the wooden sticks.
The girls did not fail me and I now sat and slowly painted.
