*Kneeling aside the grave he placed a single black rose upon it, his heart heavy, his eyes peered through a haze, he reached into his tunic and removed a scribe, it read*:
I hath nae gifts to give thee; nae, not one Even my smiles are leaden with despair Yet ye to me are more than light and air, And I shall miss thee soon, when thou art gone. For go ye shall, like many a sun that shone and gathered all its beams in sunset fair And twilight will engloom the gleams that were and all my weeping would but urge thee on Shine then, and clasp me while it yet is day Veil not thy loveliness in clouds from me Be thou my sun, shine o'er life's long way till leaves hang golden, downwards to the sea Smile when I lift my farewell eyes and gaze As nights grim portal closes through this haze.
*He lays the scroll under the rose and closes his eyes, a solitary tear falls* Farewell

Do try to keep in mind m'Lady, that "we" recreate some things to fit while a person has been away. This room is not that far off the mark for some form of crusade or a pilgrimage to the Holy Lands. Many took their pilgrimage and/or personal crusade well before it would be more and more dangerous or before it be marked in history. Another point would have been he very well could have gone-a-viking. Very appropriate for the time and place this room is set in.
(From the medieval recreationist and her Lord Fiancee rt)

~having heard of the death, she bows her head and whispers a soft prayer that the woman's soul has found paradise~
