Every year the King here in Belgium broadcasts a Christmass message live on television. In that honoured tradition, I wanted to make my own first Christmas message.
Christmas and new year, holidays in general, are a time for family. We all gather in our houses, or the houses of our parents or sisters and brothers to sit around the table and actually spend time together. Once a year we take that time to just... come together and rejoice in the love that binds us together. Even though we know that Uncle Jim will probably do his Elvis impression again, Aunt Doris will be drunk and someone will argue with someone over something....
In a way, it is all part of it. Because love is not the just the picture perfect Christmas card or Hollywood movie. It's being together when we are not perfect. I think Windstorm is a wonderful example of that. We are a group of people who come together time and again to play, to enjoy eachother. What begun as a some random people across the word sharing a hobby that placed them behind a computer screen has grown into a group of friends. And the wonderful part of it is that this group is still growing. Even though death itsself has taken people from us that had a big place in our heart, they have not been forgotten and their place with us remains.
We know ebs and tides... busy seasons and empty seasons, but underneath it all, we are still there, looking for eachother and for the next fun moment to add to our ongoing history. The story of the kissing of the foxes. The feeding of the ducks. The goat who ate the tapestry. The arrow that pierced an arm. The childrens games and hero worship. The main characters and silly or adorable npc's. The tabby cat and the master sergeant.
All of it is part of an ungoing tale that we weave together.
Windstorm is a family, but besides that family there are those that have grown just as dear to us that do not 'live' in Windstorm. The people that visit, that offer help and advice, the people that just come in for a lark or a serious play.
We are storytellers and friends, people who are sharing a history and people with so much more stories to weave. I can not wait to see what colours next year will have!
Be loved and blessed,
Edfeil/ Eva
