*waves to Galor's wife* I am currently knitting on double pointed needles. I was going to try magic loop on circulars (I really like circulars) but the circulars I bought at my local store did not have a flexible enough cable and the cable wasn't long enough. I wasn't patient enough to wait for the knitpicks needles I ordered, so I overcame my fear for double pointed needles. It's actually going better than expected although very slow. I just am almost done with the 'cuff' part. Then comes the knitting part, and after that what I fear most the pattern part with turning the heel and making the gussets...

Tomorrow is Valentines day. And my beloved husband and I will be going out to a movie in the evening while my in laws are watching Joseph. Didn't that turn out great? We have no idea yet what we will watch, but it's a simple enough indulgence for Valentines day. I will bake him a rose shaped cupcake for Valentines day, and give it to him in a special cupcake container. It's simple and silly, but we both feel that not much money should be spend, just a small gesture of love.

Just reminding everyone that I will be away for the weekend. I might peek in depending on the time, but from this afternoon till monday evening, I will be gone off to Hilton Head. If the weather keeps nice we may spend an afternoon at the beach, but mainly we will just go to be together with my in laws for a little family time. I wish we all lived closer! Unfortunately I have a weird tickle in my throat and I feel a cold threatening. NOT fun. I hope to have nipped it in the bud. If not, Valentines day might be a bed and tissues by this evening, instead of a nice evening out.

*Waves back to the fellow knitter* Its just like crack, isn't it? I highly recommend 40 inch addi turbos and magic loop for socks (also sweater sleeves). All my needles are 40 inch cables, and I magic loop anything that will bear it.
I think you are quite brave to be attempting double points, and I'm looking forward to hearing how it turns out. I tried them once when I was a rank beginner (my sister's sick and twisted version of a history lesson), and I have to say, at that point, if my family relied on me to keep their feet warm with double points, they'd have had cold tootsies. Today, I would likely have better luck.
Getting past the first turn or two of the loop just takes being careful, like moving from one double point to the next. Then, its logical. The gusset and picking up the instep is easier than it looks. Don't psych yourself out about it. If you like to knit, you are a logical and rational woman; my favorite kind. Have your favorite beverage on hand, and logic it through, but don't worry about it until you get there. Enjoy the calf of the sock; its a lot of fun! If that doesn't work, ask me. I LOVE socks. You can also try ravelry.com. Its a whole knitting/crocheting community full of people like us. We're all a little touched in the head. Good luck. I'll have Galor keep me posted.

Love reading about the knitting, and a very warm welcome to Galor's wife! Happy to see you here. I have enjoyed knitting for years now........actually producing some wearable garments *L* both for babies, toddlers and adults. Never used those double ended needles though....scarey stuff *L* well done to you both and look forward to seeing pics! The sun is shining here today, so the washing machine is working overtime, makes one actually feel like Spring cleaning *S* The garden is doing ok, despite not having been tended now for months. I have walked around and can see evidence of many a new plant pushing through the soil, and lots of bulbs coming up too. Looking forward to getting out there! The move is ongoing, my Son still has several boxes and items to take, but he seems to be in no hurry. Their bed is up *L* and I filled the cupboards and fridge, so that's all the important things *LOL* I have found it so very emotional.....as has Dave too......more than I realised, but together I am sure we can see a bright future, it's just so hard to watch your loved ones make mistakes, and learn the hard way.......perhaps a blog entry is due *L* I do hope all are well, Repsol my dear, do take care and keep healing, I miss you! Miss Letha too.......not seen her about.....and I hope Eddie enjoyed her weekend away. to all of you and welcome to new people who pop in.......enjoy your stay and be well. P.S. My voice does seem to be improving, still can't watch Mama Mia yet because I can't sing along *LOL*

I seem to be taking over your voice problems, Dream. I have had the start of a cold since friday evening. Luckily I had lots of Zicam and so far we have kept the evil beast mostly at bay. Only my voice is rather precarious and I need that voice tonight as I am leading the pre lenten devotion for my Ladies group. Hmmmm.... will need to find a solution and quickly. I had a wonderful weekend. Valentines day with my beloved husband. We saw the movie "He's just not that in to you" the first half is great... the second quarter is less. The last quarter is just plain stupid. But we were together and had a fun time rolling our eyes at eachother. Unfortunately the weather was not as good as the previous week so we did not go out to the ocean. The little prince here fell flat on his face while grandma was watching him. Each time she saw the big red scab she felt so guilty. I tried to reassure her, with this little wildman, it's hard to stop him from falling. He is getting to the age of constant scrapes and bruises... it's ... interesting. Grandma also gave him a lot of new clothes. Cute, preppy, or great for play... she has great taste. And I receive them gratefully.

*waves to Dream, Edie and Gaylor's wife!* ((You should pick a name and join us, Mrs. Gaylor!)) *grins* I'm knitting right now on double pointed needles, a mindless endless scarf while I watch TV . . (the motion burns calories, right? ) It took a few rounds to get the tension right on the corners where you switch, but it isn't like it's going to be a treasured heirloom anyway, just for fun! I used to knit mittens on double pointed needles, really small steel ones . . and I knit them so nice and tight that I damaged a nerve in one of my fingers! But wow, those mittens survived YEARS of heavy use without wearing holes in them! Mmmmm . . just to think of the ocean . . all that fluid water! *laughs* Our lakes are still solid enough to hold a good sized F150 full of ice fishing gear! But I just reveled in a lovely day of shopping that skyrocketed to 39 degrees on my day off yesterday. We're half-heartedly searching for a "Snuggler" (a wide-seated recliner, just enough room to wedge two quite snuggly! lol) Hey, my husband's idea! And oh Dream . . I should ship some of the stuff leftover from this weekend's estate clean-out! The weekend went amazingly peacefully and amicably for my In-Laws boisterous, passionate family, even rather enjoyably, all things considered. I've been thinking of you and Dave so often during this pivotal time . .

I agree with Letha, Mrs. Galor. Why not jump in on the OOC end of this pool. *G* We have a lovely artistic corner that does not get used enough because some of our very talented people *looks pointedly at Dream and Letha and Giselle* do not put up enough pictures of what they are doing..... I had my knitting with me this weekend and several books, but ended up not knitting a stitch or reading a letter. The time that was not occupied with talking, shopping or eating was mostly spend sleeping. Unfortunately the little retreat we had planned for may is off the agenda. My lovely in laws accidentily double booked themselves for that week, and the next weekend the abbey does not have any free room. We are now looking for a new date but it might have to wait till autumn. Still, there is lots to look forward to. In less than six weeks, my mother will be here, only for one week, but during the summer holidays, she might stay here as long as a month. We are making tentative plans for a visit to Saint Louis, Chicago, Nashville and Atlanta. Much to think about and look forward to.

So glad everything went well for you all Letha.....difficult times indeed but so often happiness comes from the gatherings. Yes they could do with some more furniture *chuckles* but in time I am sure. I have to think back to my first months in a new home with barely anything *L* good times, but hard. Hope your holidays do come forth Eddie......I am sure all will be well eventually. Leaving for all as the week nears it's end......been a long one here, and I shall be glad to see Saturday! I am being taken out and hopefully to the seaside!

I've not been feeling too well this last week and stuff seems to be coming to a head today. Just feeling icky, something between a cold and the flu. Ugh. Will be better soon, no doubt. Just wanted to leave an explenation for not being at the top of my game.

Hope you feel much better soon Eddie! Well............a busy weekend here so far......I visited a newly opened Antique shop nearby, seems strange to describe it as new *L* Nice to browse but I have to admit the antique/collectible shops in Lewes are by far the bestest about! Then we went on down to Brighton to pick up my eldest and his lady who had been staying there a few days. They booked the break some time ago before the decision was made to move in together *L* suffice to say they have been a busy pair and are looking forward to settling into a routine in their new home together. I have some curtains to adapt for them *S* nice to be of help *S* So.......I got to see the sea for a while and we enjoyed their company for lunch before they were off home......we all agreed how strange it was, having a visit *L* but I am sure everything will settle and life will accept those little changes. I do feel better about things now, after having a week or so to get more used to it. Rather quiet without him though! I am sure the neighbours will notice a difference! This morning we woke early as we had planned another little trip out, but the weather looked fair and as we looked out the windows we decided to tackle the garden! The first of many a morning spent tidying and cutting back *L* we are both exhausted but what a lot we achieved! So many plants are coming through, bulbs too, and soon will be time to sow some seeds in my greenhouse. Makes one feel so much better actually having done something constructive *VBS* I shall remind my joints of that tomorrow *L* All in all, a satisfying weekend.......I hope you have all enjoyed or are still enjoying a very fruitful and pleasing time whatever the weather!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend, Dream! I'm still somewhat struggling with my cold but I start having the feeling that I might finally be beating it off. Hurray! We had a weekend with shopping and resting. I even went down for an nap yesterday. Sooo tired. Lent will be upon us soon and I am trying to prepare for it. I'm hoping I will be well enough to do the fast on Ashwednesday this week. But we shall see. Health comes first.

Spring's coming . . . but not to Letha yet! We're getting BURIED in white again (and unfortunately not Dream's lovely Snowdrops!) the most we've gotten at one time all winter! . . schools are closed, I'm home from work, I have a riveting book to read . . life is good! ;D
