She would need to go to Beaumaris. They needed to make decisions about the refugees. Would the men and women stay in Windstorm? Did the children that had been send on the first ship still have relatives that were awaiting news? She needed to speak with Queen Caera.
So far, spring storms had kept the sea too unsteady for safe passage, especially for a swift crossing as it would have to be. Lady Shadowblaide visited, despite the storms, but the elements and she were greater friends than most people. It had been wonderful to hear that Sonja still had family alive. and that they would allow her to prepare a dowery for the lass when it would be time for her to wed.
In the month since the ships had arrived, she had become attached to the timid lass. Another reason to visit Beaumaris. Mayhap she could bring a visit to Sonja's relatives and see how she was faring.
She was going to offer Caera a loan as well, certainly after the coin that had been offered yesterday for the improvement of trade relationships and in the hope of seeing the harbour enlarged. Captain Greystone had offered it as a gift from her king, and an incentive to see that harbour enlarged. She needed to do it. With the aide of Prince Ulbrecht and the men send from Fryselan, she might.
And she needed to speak with Lady Draven as well. The young lass was a delight to have in Windstorm. A woman after Edfeil's own heart. It seemed so few nowadays learned the womanly arts from their mothers. War and illness took so many. Mayhap she could offer guidance and a home to the lass. She was nae that much younger than the queen herself, but she reminded her of how she had been when she had arrived in Windstorm so many years. Mayhap history would, in a way, repeat itsself. She hoped it would.
So many things to arrange, so many things to do, yet she felt... contented amidst it.
