*Dream sat upon a large rock, looking out to the never ending ocean, watching the waves break over the sand......and wondered. Echoes of laughter from her children filtered into her mind...turning to watch them as they played among the dunes....she could not help but smile. They were content....but was she......?
Her visits to the Castle had become less frequent of late, even though she always enjoyed listening to cook tell his tales and inform her of the day's gossip. She knew so little of the people staying there now, almost to the point she felt invisible within their company. Perhaps they had not realised how distant they seemed at times or else they had matters to discuss which were important. It did not matter in truth, for she had long since realised her worth within the Castle and would strive to banish all thoughts of such from her heart and mind lest they would fester and contaminate her wellbeing even more.
She felt more at ease living at the small house on the beach, much larger since the Rangers had added another room in Springtime. She had laughed at them when both Owen and John showed her plans for yet another room in which she could welcome guests. What should she need of such a room when solitude was all she wished for....and of course the safe return of her Robin. No matter they had told her for it was already in hand to work on throughout the Summer months whilst the weather was kindly. She had chuckled again, wondering even then how to furnish such a room. Turning her gaze from the children to survey her new home and the lands beyond. She smiled and watched the Gulls hover above her, as if they were giving their blessing to her plans.
This was home now......a place she could be at peace with.....the sanctuary she had always needed. No imposing walls, no demands save for her children's needs.......for now she would stay here. ..take stock of her feelings and emotions....give voice to her plans and dreams.......decisions would be made and a future would begin. The past had no place within her mind for it served only to torment her. Memories were sacred and would always be kept safe, after all.....they were all she had now.
Reaching her hand down to retrieve a small pebble....she took aim and threw it into the sea....perhaps letting go of the pain and torment within her heart...making room....moving on towards a better place without dark thoughts and fears to confuse her.
As was quite normal these days, she had tucked her skirts into her waistband, long legs were gaining some colour from such exposure to the sunshine and the elements. Perhaps once a Lady by marriage.....to all intents and purpose she was now simply a Mother and Wife...much as any other woman of the village. Her hair was tangled and fighting the pins that kept it in place. Sea spray and sand were not kind to long tresses, but she cared not anymore......she had more important issues to deal with, and the state of her hair was very low in priority.
Rising now from her favourite sitting place, Dream called to the children.......it was time to continue with their learning. She had little to offer by way of knowledge but letters she knew and such would stand them in good stead for their future. Reluctant to join her, they scattered much like the Gulls had. She began to chase them as they darted within the dunes. Thomas already hiding in his makebelieve Castle, wooden sword in hand, who knows what he was thinking as he still refused to speak. Ellissia as always quickly gave in as she was grabbed from behind...tickled into submission by her doting Mother.
All was well within their world...for now at least.*
((This thread was started simply to allow Dream to move forward, and perhaps give Robin a place to begin writing again when time allows. I write from my heart and this is how Dream was feeling, it was never directed at any one person to blame or insult. She is thinking of the recent time she spent within the Castle and it is in no way making excuses for her typist's absence. My apologies if my writing has offended anyone. ))
