Dieter stepped back out into the hall with a few last word to the young girl inside who was taking care of Lady Beren in her sickness. Listening until he heard the bolt thrown on the door, knowing that they didn't wish her illness spreading, which was why only the young woman inside the room, who had already had the pox, and he himself, who was safe from it for other reasons, were the only ones to see her for the moment. Turning to the worried Ranger sitting down the hall and giving him a somewhat reassuring smile.."She is doing better, her fever has broken and the sores are healing, as well as being able to sleep without the poppy juice." Neither of them had been keen on using such but during the worst of the rash it had been the only thing that gave her enough relief to be able to rest. Richard nodding, though still looking worried himself as he settles back into his post of watching and making sure nobody else tried to enter Berens quarters, including himself, once it had come out that he'd never had the pox as a child. Hand reaching out to give the Rangers shoulder a squeeze to reassure him, though Richard knew Dieter was as worried as himself, the blonde knight at least able to help more due to his immunity to the illness. "They are settled in for the night Richard, you should get yourself some rest as well..." Not needing to say that he himself would be back first thing in the morning to check on Beren and fetch whatever they needed inside. The Ranger nodding though staying put for the moment as Dieter gives his shoulder one last squeeze before heading off himself, making a list in his own mind of things to bring in the morning as he heads off to his own quarters for the night.

Post by Lady Beren on Sept 4, 2010 15:22:53 GMT -5
The rain fell steadily in Lune, bringing in the scent of wet pine. Lady Beren sat at the window pondering and waiting for a missive from Windstorm...or more correctly : the Gloriarc. A fire crackled cheerfully in the small fireplace...although the days could still be warm, there was the distinct September chill in the air. Autumn seemed to have come soon.
She let her thoughts wanders to the events of the last few weeks. First of all she had been caught out by the pox, at the most inconvenient time of harvesting. From what Richard had told her, she had been out of it for a week, being cared for by a girl from the village and Lord Dieter, who was immune to the illness. Once she had woken up again, she had asked for the girl's name and made sure that she was properly rewarded. Imogen was now starting out in the kitchens, under the watchful eye of Cook and the gentler guidance of the other girls.
She remembered the conversation with Lady Simone and the news that her husband had died. So many possibilities lay now open for the gentle lady. Once she was out of mourning, of course. Unfortunately, the talk had taken out much more of her than she expected and she had collapsed again.
The smile on Lady Beren's face now turned a combination of grim and amused. Richard had taken it upon himself to insist she go to Lune. "Ye have barely recovered, M'Lady , and I think in Lune Ye may be less ....tempted to work." he had argued. At the time, she had been grately annoyed ...there was so much work to do! However, Lord Dieter had agreed with Richard and sent her off to convalesce, as if she was a willful younger sister, ignoring her protestations!
Of course, she had forgiven both already. Another smile crossed her face : it had been good to recover in Lune's citadel, with her beloved forests so close, the people speaking her own language. Gerald the steward had been delighted to welcome her. And for once, the Franks had kept their peace as well.
But now, Lady Beren was growing restless again. She felt much stronger, and had recently caught herself staring at the West. Even her beloved music could nae bring the peace of mind she sought. What would be the matter, she asked herself, shaking her head as if to clear it, as so often these days.
Finally, she had decided, two days ago, to return to Windstorm. "Richard, it is time to return to Windstorm...Lord Magnus of Friesland will be visiting soon...We will send a message to Lord Ulbrecht to bring us home on the Glori ...I reckon he will be happy for the diversion. " She had announced all this in such a decisive manner, that Richard had nae protested. The message was sent and Lady Beren was ready to go as soon as the Glori arrived.
And then the letter from Rainald De Sennis had arrived. That troublesome Frank! She had spent all day thinking of a kind but clear answer. There was no chance she would ever have feelings for him, and she was determined to make that crystal clear, in a most diplomatic manner. He must be insane, writing such thoughts whilst being betrothed to another!
Again she shook her head. And again her gaze was drawn westward. The personal reason she wanted to return to Windstorm was that she had finally made up her mind about something that had troubled her for years. But before she put the final plan into action, she needed Lord Dieter's advice on the matter.
In an attempt to focus her thoughts, she picked up the scroll that had been in her lap for the last hour and started to read ...

(16:26:36) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: Like last evening, he sits in the hall, having Mollie bring him some cidre. - He is undecided ...one side of him urges him to go to the whale-road, to see whether he would spot her ship returning home. Or at least whether he would catch Lamont should he make his way across from Frankia. On the other hand, his place has to be here, in Windstorm. Playing embassdor for a king who since recently has withdrawn his trust in him
(16:27:44) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: He wishes Bertin would be here right now, his old trusted servant with whom he had discussed as good as everything.
(16:28:28) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: But none was here. None to help him, to guide him, to give him trust!
(16:33:03) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: !Nonono! Stop this foolish notion!" He cursed himself and was glad to be alone in the hall
(16:35:34) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: Yet, he wondererd, how to do this trip to the coast so it would arouse no questions. He had been away for longer periods before, nobody had asked or cared. But a trip to the coast, now ... maybe if he took one of the rangers with him. Yes, that would be a possibility. he thought of whom...
(16:53:18) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: Again his thoughts circled around the letter he had written to Lady beren. Had he been too bold?Had he been improaching upon her in an inappropriate manner? If so, it had not been his intention...of course he wouldn't press anything upon her ...never!
(16:54:06) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: "Nicholas! He would be willing to accomapny me to the coast. I need to be watchful, isn't that what she said? Well, Lamont won't find me unprepared!"
(16:54:46) Rainald de Sennis is in the Great Hall, and say to ALL: Justifying his trip thusly, Rainald finished his cidred and decided to make travelling plans.

Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: He stood on the deck speaking quietly with Mr. Oden as he surveyed the docks...Agreeing with the First Mates suspicious nature, leaving the Glori in his capable hands while ulbrecht is away.."Aye, anchor offshore....and limited shore leave...Only a few at a time and watchful." Strapping on his blade as a sailor stands at the gangplank holding a horse for him. Squeezing his Mates shoulder before heading down the plank, taking his horse and mounting up, watching until they have gone back aboard and pulled the gangplank, getting ready to move offshore a little bit to anchor and await the Captains return.

Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *ye have been spotted by the sentries the Lady Beren had sent, straight away ...ever since yer missive arrived, she had been ready , nae wishing to waste Yer time by still having to pack. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:02:46) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Nodding to himself, a little uneasy about leaving the Glori, but trusting Mr. Oden to watch over her until he returns with Lady Beren. Turning to the road and setting his heels to the horse, planning on making this trip as quickly as possible. Noting the presence of Frankish men here and there, tucking his head down and moving on. It wasn't long before he got closer to his destination, spotting the group waiting for someone on the road. Straightening up as he recognizes the other livery, shaking his head with a quiet chuckle to himself. Suspecting Her Ladyship was not going to let him sneak by here.

Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *the leader of the group, a tall handsome fellow, rides forward to greet Ye * Captain Ulbrecht ...welcome to Lune ...may we escort Ye to the keep * it is more a statement than a question, though the man is perfectly polite*

Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Eyeing the man easily as he rides up to him..."Of course M'lord...I see Her Grace is expecting me..." Chuckling again quietly as he falls in with the group. Deciding not to make things difficult for the guards. "There have been more troubles with the neighbours?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:13:33) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: She is indeed *the leader riding next to Ye* as for trouble ... our Frankish friends like this season to camp near our borders ... Ye are quite safe ,though, Captain

Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Nodding as he eyes the guards..."Of course, I mean what would they want with a simple Ships Captain?" Though his tone is a bit more serious, the groups he had seen were looking a bit more than just show. "So Her Grace has finished her recovery? It was most troubling that her illness seemed to wish to linger."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:27:02) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *the Lady had told the leader who ye were... but also that Ye would prefer yer titles nae to be called about ...he smiles in his beard for a moment, then answers , in his pleasant voice* Ah... Her Grace is fine again ... being home did her lots of good ... it was taken care of that she could nae strain herself too much too soon ... ye will find her in good spirits, captain
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:29:30) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *soon enough , Ye can see the keep... its banners fluttering gracefully in the breeze *

Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Laughing and nodding at that, suspecting they all had conspired with Richard to make sure she rested. "I see, but knowing Her Ladyship, she still found ways to get the work done, she is very....determined like that..." Riding into the courtyard to dismount and hand his reins off to one of the stablehands. "So shall we see if Her Grace is ready for travelling."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:36:19) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *Yer escort dismounts as well, accompanying Ye through the door into the keep ... the group halts in front of the Great Hall , where steward Gerald has taken up his post .He bows upon seeing Ye * Good day, Yer Highness. I hope Yer journey went well?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:40:01) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: "Indeed, I trust Her Grace is expecting me?" Unbuckling his swordbelt and handing it over to the steward, taking a moment to look around the Hall, taking it in quietly with a discerning eye.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:45:12) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: But of course, Yer HIgness...allow me to introduce Ye * Nae giving ye the chance to speak he clears his throat and calls out * Yer Grace, here to visit is His Highness Ulbrecht Anders of the house of Jelckama, Prince of Friesland,Duke Harlingen, Earl Ameland , Baron Stavoren * All present in the Hall look up and around... a faint murmur audible ... at the far end, a familiar figure rises from a handsomely carved chair, smiling ever so warmly *
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:53:19) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Straightening up, shoulders setting back as you watch his demeanor shift..." If he had to play the Court game, well, he was quite capable of that. Striding forward, looking slightly under-dressed for the part of the Prince, but his carriage is every bit that of his upbringing. Nodding politely to those assembled before pausing before the chair. "Good day Your Grace, you are looking quite well I must say..."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:57:12) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *the Lady senses the admiration for Ye that runs through the Hall ... in his usual place, Richard stays motionless, his face neutral as ever , but she can sense his amusement. She dips into a cursty before answering * Yer Highness is most kind, as ever * she does indeed look quite pleasant, though still a tad pale and transparent .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (17:59:05) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *then however, she happily breaks every rule of protocol by stretching out both hands to ye, smiling warmly* good day, Captain ...it is very good to see Ye

"M'Lady Beren....Someone will be glad to hear you are finally recovered...As for myself, well the Glori awaits your pleasure...."

Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *she laughed gently* I am looking forward to the journey. Will Ye do us the honour of Yer presence at the dinner table, Captain?

Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *she gently presses yers before letting go...her gaze telling ye how glad she is to see ye ...her voice light as she speaks, taking part in the show * Very well, M'Lord ... iffen ye would follow M'Lord Gerald here , he will show ye where ye can refresh yerself before the meal

Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: * A year ago, Gerald would have fainted at the idea of showing a Prince around ... but being steward of Lune had taught him to expect the unexpected and he would make sure to make a good impression .*

Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Chuckling and nodding, noting the slight pallor to your skin, but then being familiar with your...slight weakness to the seas motion..."Then we shall be off, and have you back in Windstorm in short order..." Mildly distracted by something, you've grown to know the Frisian Princes well enough to see that...Easily mounting and settling in his saddle before turning back to you waiting for Richard to assist you then get himselfmounted and we shall be ready to go.

Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Letting the guard form up around us for the ride back to the coast...Relatively quiet and watchful along the road back, sharp seamans eyes missing little of their surroundings.

Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: in an attempt to still her own misgivings about having to step on a ship soon and brave the Channel, she speaks softly* Is all well in Windstorm, Captain?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:26:45) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *of course, ye had told her all the news the previous evening ... so she feels a tad silly, but talking helps to keep her composure *
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:29:53) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: "Her Majesty is still fighting with her own illness, it has kept her indisposed since you left. Which leaves me needing your words upon a certain situation that I have not had the opportunity to discuss with her...Though I trust it can wait until during the crossing. Other than that, things have been quite calm, though Dieter has seemed distracted of late..." Managing to keep his tone mostly innocent, slipping a casual glance your way to note your reaction.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:36:31) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: Distracted....perhaps the visit of Yer Father makes him feel uneasy? I understand their relationship is ...difficult.*she spoke gently and calmly, quite a feat, since she now could smell the sea ... her eyes widening ever so slightly at the prospect of the crossing ...she cast ye a somewhat shaky smile* Of course we can talk during the crossing, Captain ... *she tried very hard to sound normal now...hoping that she would nae make a scene of herself by being ill again *
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:42:02) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: As for your issue with the crossing, well he had something to discuss with you regarding that as well. "I don't believe so...They actually spoke last time Father visited Windstorm and cleared most of that up...He is just as stubborn as Father or any of the rest of us, and Father finally accepted that Dieter would do what he felt necessary, even if it kept him from his home and family...Five years gone proved that quite adequately. Father sees this as a good compromise, the best of the current situation...Dieter has a home, instead of living as an animal in the woods, and family, in the form of myself, is about..As well as friends who obviously care for him, in the person of Her Majesty for example." Leading the way to the docks and waving to where the Glori rides out a ways offshore, the men setting about lowering a boat to come get them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:47:11) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *her smile deepend for a moment, in spite of an upcoming panic at the sight of a mere little boat * That is good to hear ... it had troubled me that His Majesty's presence would cause discomfort for both himself and yer brother ...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:51:49) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: "Father is capable of being pragmatic if necessary and accepting the best of the situation, even if it is not as he would prefer. He sees it better than the situation we had before...Not knowing if Dieter were alive or dead or where he was." Dismounting as the longboat reaches the docks, though he keeps one eye on the landward side, in case of any surprises. The sailors jumping ashore and getting the last few things stowed aboard and standing ready for you as Ulbrecht turns his horse over to the guards..."We are ready for your M'Lady Beren..."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:51:54) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *Knowing Beren for a long time and having travelled with her many times, Richard reads the signs perfectly and when he helps the Lady of her mare, his grip is slightly firmer than usual*
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (02:55:03) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *his closeness calms her down, as she breathes very consciously ...whenever they travel alone , he would carry her to the boat and gently deposit her on it ....however, now decorum asks she walks on herself ...straightening her back, she smiles bravely at Ye *very well, Captain ...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (03:01:17) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: Standing to one side as Richard takes the other to hand you down to the boat, his strong grip steady until the sailors get you and Richard settled in the center seat...Bidding the guards a goodbye with one last watchful glance across the docks before joining you in the boat easily followed by the last of the silors, pushing them off and putting their backs to the oars to move them quickly out to the Glori. Bot the Captain and the First Mates unease with the porting had carried to the crew as well, with short blades evident, tucked into their belts and a few extra stays rattling around in the bottom of the boat just in case. Upon reaching the Glori, he sees Richard aboard first, the rigging an easy climb for the Ranger, following him and then between them they almost lift you bodily aboard, getting you to the relative solidity of the ships main deck as the sailors clamber aboard and set to winching the boat up and stowing it. "Welcome aboard once again M'Lady Beren..." The gruff voice of the taciturn First Mate ringing out as he hustles the men to the last few things, anchor rising quickly as he has the sail set and the Glori already curving away from the coast before Ulbrecht has even said anything.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (03:03:29) [PIC]
Lady Beren Windstorm Castle Ward of Brother Archibald Minstrel of Windstorm says to -=- Third of Five -=-Ulbr: *she nodded at the First Mate, positive pale, but standing her ground ...*
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (03:12:37) -=- Third of Five -=- [PIC]
Ulbrecht Captain of the "Gloriarc" Prince of Friesland
says to Lady BerenWindstorm Castl: The men seeing your things to the rooms, Ulbrecht stepping asie for a moment to speak to one of the men before turning back to you..."I feel better already..If you would care to see to your things? I'd best go give Mr. Oden a hand with the wheel and make sure nothing came up while I was away..." Showing you to the room, not much but well built and clean...A knock a few minutes later reveals one of the crew with a steaming tankard of some herbal concoction...Tea-like, though a bit more bitter than your usual fare..."Captain's orders M'Lady..." The man explains in his accented english before tipping his head to you and heading back off to his normal duties. As for the trip, it's quite calm, the seas barely noticeable, though your stomach seems to settle after a bit.
