Cara McKenna Peasant Woman of Windstorm-CS is in the Courtyard, and says to ALL: As quietly as she could Cara stumbled slowly across the courtyard of a Castle she had wondered if she would ever see again. She was somewhat pale and quite skinny, much as she might have appeared long ago when she first arrived. But this time without the forcefully inflicted wounds.she wondered if anyone would even remember her after such a long time away, especially since she had told no one where she was going. But after what happened last time..how could she have even considered such. she wanted No one to get hurt again because of her...she paused as she drew near the Castle doors and took a deep breath, knowing she would have a lot of explaining to do
(07:40:19)
Cara McKenna Peasant Woman of Windstorm-CS is somewhere in the Castle, and says to ALL: Slipping into the Castle once more she held back the sneeze that threatened to come, her bedraggled state proof she had been out in way to many rainstorms for her own good in the last few months as she walked too and from her destinations, much less the work she had done once she had gotten there.Pulling out the treasured golden key that would hopefully still fit the lock to her chamber door Cara makes her way up the stairs to search out the proper place before stumbling inside and collapsing pon the bed there, a deep long sigh possible to be heard by anyone that passed the chamber as this was the first time in months she had slept pon a soft surface, much less a true bed.

Cara McKenna Peasant Woman of Windstorm-CS is in the Private Chambers, and says to ALL: Miss Cara? Miss Cara? Tis that truly ye?? she hears suddenly from the door and looks about to see the two Castle chatterboxes standing in the doorway staring at her..Aye lassies..tis me...comes the exhausted reply as Cara tries to smile at the both of them, succeeding in finally sneezing once or twice as she begins to shiver some.Molly, shocked from her reverie at the sound hurries to get a fresh warm coverlet and lay atop her whilst Millie turns and runs back to the kitchen chamber to ask for some hot broth for the newly returned girl.

Millie almost fell through the heavy kitchen door in her haste to get aid. She managed to get across the importance of the situation whilst rambling on about the young woman and how she seemed to look so bedraggled and unkempt.
Dream stood from the bench and listened intently, stopping only to confirm that it was Cara, the young girl she had taken a liking to although only having spent a short time with.
Questions would come, and perhaps answers given, but for now they needed to make her comfortable.
"Ye must light a fire in her room Millie, I shall fetch the broth."
Millie nodded and left the kitchen almost as quickly as she had entered, meanwhile cook was already filling a bowl with hot broth and another servant had cut a slice from the loaf of bread Dream had been enjoying. Between them they set a tray full of comforting and hearty food that should help anyone to feel better.
Dream made her way up the stairs, carrying the tray with care whilst lifting her skirts high enough to manage each step. She took in her surroundings and felt more at ease than she had done is some time, helping and feeling needed always lifted one's spirits.
Mollie had returned to the room with a heavy quilt and Millie already had a small fire going in the hearth. Dream hesitated slightly in the open doorway, before stepping in and placing the tray down beside the bed. She smiled and looked over Cara as she lay covered and shivering beneath the quilt.
Her words calm, yet concerned. "Cara.....good greetings to ye lass.....are ye hurt.....how do ye fare?

As young Millie took off out of her chamber door Cara simply lay quiet, her eyes closing slowly as she began to comprehend that she was indeed inside the Castle once more and naught simply dreaming.
As she stares about the room to which she had thought of for such a long time before beginning to doze,Mollie returns with a heavy quilt and lays it atop her, tucking it about her slender frame gently and urging her to rest.
Sooner than she can do so however Millie comes bustling in and settles down to create a fire in her hearth just as another steps through carrying a tray laden with food and drink. Squinting as she looks at the Lady trying to make her sluggish mind work, Cara is unable to put the familiar face to a name until the Lady speaks.
Gasping softly as she begins to remember Cara smiles "Dia DĂșit,Lady Dream...errmm i mean good morn to ye Lady Dream...beg pardon for speakin my native tongue...nay I am naught hurt,Lady...only tired" she begins softly her voice somewhat hoarse yet her stomach seems to talk quite a bit more loudly than she can right at the moment...

*The relief Dream felt when Cara uttered those words was shown within her smile. There was something so gentle about the girl and her native language was captivating even though Dream had not heard such in a long while. She would ask more of it, when time allowed for she was not even sure where the lass had called home.
"Ahhhh.....such news does indeed settle my anxious mind Cara...mayhaps something to eat and then rest aye?" Reaching towards the young girl with a gentle touch, Dream placed her hand briefly on the tangled locks of hair that looked in dire need of washing. The gesture one of kindness and concern, her hand did not linger for more than a moment as she had not wished to intrude or make Cara feel at all intimidated.
Turning to see the fire burning well, she thanked the twins and nodded her head by way of allowing them both to take their leave of the room. Then she stood back from the bed to allow Cara space to sit up and enjoy her food.
"The fine weather we have enjoyed seems to have departed now......I fear Winter shall soon be upon us, and mayhap far colder and longer than we would wish."
Dream spoke softly, reassuring Cara, not asking more from the girl than she wished to tell. "I have spent some time at my home by she seashore, but I shall be returning to my chambers within the Castle sooner than I planned, I feel 'tis best for my children......and mayhaps myself, for I am in need of the company."
Smiling again, she stepped towards the door, ready to take her leave.*

Cara smiled slowly hoping to ease the kind Lady's mind some.she knew however that the state of her, so slender and shivering did naught lend easily to such endevours.Hearing the offer of food and sleep however gladdened her a good deal as did the gentle comforting touch of the Lady's hand.As she pulled back and spoke of the coming cold season Cara nodded lightly. ~Aye I spose its a good thing I was able to make it back afore the roughest of the weather set in, though I must admit the last storms were nay too pleasant to work in.~
These words spoken softly Cara pushes herself up to a sitting position slowly enhaling deeply of the delicious smelling foods before her.Lifting a piece of bread in a trembling hand she dips it lightly into the broth before taking her first bite~ mmmm~ she whimpers joyfully.
Nodding as she accepted the words of where the Lady had been Cara speaks softly making sure she swallows the bite of food first. ~my time away was nay quite so joyous i am afraid, but that will take some explaining. i am just glad to be back~ she murmurs and quickly sets in to eating again as if she were starved, though she was quite grateful of the company.~

Dream wished only to help, she didn't want to pry or force the conversation, but it was obvious something was wrong. To leave and close the door was an option, but it may become a missed opportunity she would regret. Cara may have told her she was unhurt, and of course Dream had no reason to doubt her words, yet the heart and mind can also be hurt, such is not always physical....a wound can be so deep it may never be seen. The girl was thinner than Dream recalled, and her features pale and drawn, almost as if she had not enjoyed the time of sunshine and gentle winds.
She smiled softly as the young girl enjoyed her food with relish, already it would seem she had felt comfortable enough to eat and feel safe. Dream hoped again this was true, but she could not help but ask just one question.
"Was it to return to yer homelands that took ye from us Cara......to work in storms and such, did ye travel alone. I nae wish to pry as ye tell me ye are well enough, yet I can see ye are far from such. Be there anything ye wish to share......might I fetch ye anything else, hot water to wash yerself, clean clothes, or mayhaps ye would rather rest aye?"
Dream felt her face flush slightly as she realised the one question had indeed become many, perhaps too many for one so weary as Cara.........

The hot broth and bread was like a feast to Cara who had been without much good food for awhile.Twas true her neighbors, the ones who had known her parents, had dropped by once a week to bring bits of food, whatever they could spare for the young girl but the food had been gone in one sitting, so one good meal a week it had been.Still she had been greatful for it. Now however she was beginning to feel the full effects of such small amounts of sustinance for so long.
Lady Loxley's worried questions drew her eyes and thus her thoughts then and Cara smiled lightly.
"Nay..I could naught travel all the way to Eire thusly, and alone...it was but a journey back to my parents allotted homestead here...though as I think I do believe the homestead may have been in another's Kingdom for a time...I am truly unsure of that for I was so young when the allottment was given. And aye, I did travel alone."
This drew a sigh from young Cara as her mind drifted back to the very first journey she had made to her former home. Sir Draven had been hurt badly on that journey protecting her, and His beloved Ghaele had nay survived. She had nay the heart to see Him or anyone hurt like that again..not for her.
"I could nay ask anyone to take me there...naught after the last journey. At least by going alone ifn anything had happened to me no one else would have been hurt. But I had to go...I kept remembering my family home in that burned out state and it sickened me...I had to try and set things right...at least as right as it could be...Tore down that wreckage with my bare hands."
As she speaks Cara's voice begins to take on a more pronounced brogue as her throat clogs with emotions. Wiping away the tears that threaten to spill she smiles at the lady's offer for a wash and rest. "Aye, a wash would be heavenly, and mayhaps a clean dress, ifn twould be no trouble?"
her voices trails off then as Cara leans tiredly back against the raised pillows lifting the mug of broth in her shakey hands to sip some more of the wonderful liquid....

*Dream stood by the open door, listening to Cara as she spoke.....each word was filled with pain and anguish even if the young girl had not intended such, it was clearly so difficult to speak and remember past times. Dream felt her stomach turning with both pity and fear....her eyes moist from threatening tears to hear of such a tormented life. So much had happened to Cara that she knew nothing of, and for that she felt remorse, feeling she could have, should have....done more to protect her. Nothing could change such now, and as she listened she vowed to do all she could for the girl....much as she had done for Perran many moons ago.
At first the words caught in her throat, not willing to come forth until she coughed a little. Dream gained some composure and offered a gentle smile. The room was warm now from the fire that burned well, and Cara had food....she was safe, but from what and whom, Dream did not know. If it was meant...then Cara would stay and thrive as a young woman should within the walls of Windstorm.
She wanted no more than to hold the girl, soothe her pain, take such fear from her heart and mind.......and yet she saw a brave young woman.....one who had mayhaps accepted the past and learned from it even though to do so was still so awful. Dark, despairing times were gone......the future held so much more. Dream nodded and finally spoke.*
"Aye.......I Shall have the twins aid me.....fer now ye must rest, and when ye awake we shall have hot water ready ......and a fresh gown. Ease yer mind now and do nae worry....ye are safe here, and I promise nae a harm shall befall ye. "
((Sorry for the delay in posting.....life has become busy again now and for a few days more.I also have a new laptop to load! Dream will return with hot water etc by the end of the week xx))

Cara took her time over the mug of broth savoring the rich aroma and taste yet nay rushing it, even setting the cup aside every now and then as she and the Lady speak. She was tired, more tired than she wished to show or even truly believe herself. Her words, she could see, distressed the Lady near her and she felt very sorry for that.Twas nay what she wished for. Yet Cara had never lied to anyone and did not mean to start now, even if it meant trouble for her later.
For now she simply leaned back against the pillows, struggling a bit to keep her eyes from sealing shut as she hears the promise of a wash and fresh clothes soon. "Thank ye, Lady Loxley, twill be most greatful for such." Cara murmurs in between large yawns that turn her a bit pink with embarrassment. "Fer-give m'rudeness, m'Lady..twas nay intentional." she murmurs before leaning completely back and growing silent.
((nay worry m'Lady..RT comes first and seems to have hit us both. i apologise too for my late response to your own post. i will be posting as oft as i can.))

Dream watched as Cara relaxed back into her bed.....there would be time for more answers and questions later, of course if they were needed. For now, the young girl just needed to rest and Dream would see to it. As Cara began to close her eyes, she reached forward to take the empty mug of soup, cupping it between her hands and standing quietly, lingering for a few moments until she was certain Cara was asleep. Stepping backwards towards the heavy oak door, she reached one hand to the latch, lifting it as silently as she could lest she would wake the exhausted girl. As she turned away, pulling the door with her, she turned on her heels and almost bumped into Mollie. With a squeal of both alarm and embarrassment, her Twin, Millie lifted up her skirts to make a quick exit. Dream could hardly stifle a chuckle, and did no more than shake her head and wiggle her finger at the nosy couple. She spoke quietly and pulled the door closed behind her.
"Ahhhh....I see ye both be ready and able to assist me further...." With a wink and a smile she continued. "Twas so kind of ye both to wait close by, of course none of ye intended to listen I be sure."
Both Mollie and Millie by now had a soft glow about their faces, nodding in unison, a clumsy but well meant curtsy accompanying their whispered apology. Dream gathered them both closely and smiled again. "I know ye meant nae a harm girls, and I am nae in a position to reprimand ye further, nor would I wish to. But ye should nae be listening at doors lest ye may hear something spoken of yerself that ye nae wish to hear."
Millie looked at Mollie, both wide eyed as they digested Dream's words, quite sure they would stop listening at doors.....for a while anyway.
As they made their way back down the staircase and on towards the kitchens, Dream asked of them both to fill a large bowl with hot water and fetch it to Cara before dinner was ready to be served. That way the young girl would have had time to rest a while and would wake to a refreshing wash. She told them to fetch one of the Queen's older but still useful and wearable gowns from the storage room as Edfeil was a similar size to Cara and would be only too happy to help, Dream was certain of such.
It would seem a plan had been devised..........
((Happy to continue as and when time allows.....will follow your lead. xx))

Cara nay heard any more as her eyes closed, her head pressing into the feather pillow with a soft sigh. She was naught aware when the Lady Dream moved to leave the room and only moaned a bit in sleep as the sound of the soft squeals are heard before the door closes once more silencing the sounds and deepening her slumber. She nay hears the conversation that happens just outside her door as the two young maids are gently chastened for eavesdropping.
However when she awakens some time later, a good while later it seemed by the position of the sun, or near lack there of as it was almost eve, she finds a large bowl of heated water and scented soaps awaiting her use. The wash she found was a wonderful in reality as it had been in speech and she enjoyed every moment of it as it took place before donning the lent gown, nay knowing who's it was.
Wincing slightly as she looks back at her bed to discover the mess her dirty dress had made upon it and decided she would have to apologise to the twins for the extra work she was about to put them through. She felt refreshed from the sleep yet still the world would take to tilting ever-so-oft, rubbing her eyes a bit she moves to the small trunk at the foot of the bed and opens it to find all of the things she had been given or had brought back with her from her family home still there. Including a set of bone comb and brush which she uses to stroke her unruly mane into something more akin to proper before taking the first hesitant steps out of her chambers and downstairs.
She couldn't help but wonder who was about still after so long of an absence from her new home....
