Granted, Quint nae had been there for much after the discovery of the knife, having been sent off to find Lord Dieter, but he had been there when the knife had been discovered, and that was more than enough, wasn' it? Besides, he had heard the rest of the tale from a very reliable source. And so the word spread, first in the guard quarters. And the tale was chilling enough for anyone to make sure it was spread far and wide. After all, this was a matter of the Queen's safety.
And so word started to spread. The Lady Astridur who had been a guest in the hall had seen it. A shadowy man who had managed to get past all the guards and driven a dagger deep in the queen's chair, then dissapeared. Well, the message was clear, was it nae? Especially since the queen had nearly fainted when she saw the knife. She had known who it was. And the man was a known assassin. There was nae a doubt about that. There was a contract out on the Queen's life. Someone had tried to kill her. They were about to go to wair. And some even whispered the name of the place they could now, any day, expect an attack from....
