Tangled Vine Tavern and Inn - Grand Opening Weekend

Welcome to the grand opening of Historical Fantasies new GRP room - The Tangled Vine Tavern and Inn! We are going to have a full weekend of games, storytelling events as well as some prizes handed out to lucky winners - will you be one of them?

The Tangled Vine Tavern is a GRP room open for any character, regardless of time or geographical positioning. We allow magic, we allow magical creatures, we allow pets, we allow bar fights - but remember this, if you break it, you buy it.

The tavern is a safe zone, but we cannot take any responsibility for what happens outside of it. Then you are all on your own.

During the weekend, we will keep the room going for two days, and there will be plenty of things happening.
- Avatars will be randomly dropped into the room and those present who wish to have a chance at winning one will be able to roll the dice. Preview available HERE.
- Trivia questions will be asked during the whole weekend, but there will also be a main event to close out the weekend on Sunday.
- Storytold events will be taking place within the tavern. It is up to the roleplayers inside to react appropriately to what is taken place.
- A competition for the funniest serve will be held on the Saturday. (Rules will be announced shortly.)
- A Darts competition will take place on the Sunday.
- All three competitions (Trivia, Darts, and Funniest Serve) will have a 3 month membership given to the winner!

Darts rules:

Make a d20 roll. On a 20, you hit the inner bullseye (or wherever else you were aiming for)
On a 19, you hit the outer bull or lower.
On a 17-18, you hit the triple ring of your choice or lower.
On a 14-16 you hit the double ring of your choice or lower.
On a 8-13, you hit the single target of your choice.
On a 2-7, you miss!
On a 1, hope there’s nobody standing too close to either side! The dart goes wild, slips out of your hand, bounces off the wire, or does something else catastrophic.

This event is welcome to all characters from all realms, and even new characters you've been looking for a place to try out. Just keep in mind the three signs over the door: No detections, no mind control, and no talking cats.

Funniest Serve

So you think you have what it takes when it comes to serving? The Tangled Vine will be offering a funniest serve contest for all those who are inclined to try it out. The winner of the contest will be receiving a 3 months membership for PoD.

- The serve will consist of three posts.
- The serve can be done at any point during the evening - please let one of the staff know that you are going to enter the contest so we can script the posts for judging!
- The serve will be judged upon the following criteria: flow, humour, personal flair.

An example serve

I am called over to a table where I am just about avoiding the groping hands of a large man who appears to think that my breasts can talk, because that is where he directs his ever so humble request of a refreshing drink. (“Ale, wench!”) I am sighing ever so faintly, almost wanting to roll my eyes at the cliche of a barbarian who thinks that his power does indeed lie in the size of his sword, but somehow, I am able to contain myself from doing so. Instead, I reply, “Peachy keen, sweetheart. Coming right up.”

I am leaving the table of Mr. Caveman to head on over to the bar where I am leaning in to flirt just a little with the barkeep. I am answering a few MSN messages, scrolling to drool over an avatar, and eventually, I will remember that oh yeah, I was serving someone. Grabbing the first mug within reach, I am wiping it off, sniffing it to go...naaaah, he won’t notice, and I am handing the mug over to the barkeep to have it filled to the brim with foaming ale. I am having a drink of the ale - gotta check it to make sure that it hasn’t gone all stale now, don’t I? Just one sip. 1 - 2- 6- 15 - 7. Who is counting anyway?

Schould not... taste...ale when scherving, totally. I am making my way back to the table where the two large men are waiting. Wait a minute. Did they both want ale? Ponders to have another sip of the ale and see if one of them leaves, but I am moving over to the table, carefully trying to set down the mug of ale on one of the spinning tables. Damn. Apparently that was not a table after all. I am retracing my steps to go and refill the ale mug, having a strengthening sip from it since I am soooo not having a good evening. I am returning to the table, just to hit the right one this time. “Well, here you go! Bott-hiccup-oms up!”

I tried several times during the weekend but just could not find my way around the passwords and saved names for entry! Call me silly and all, but I was rather frustrated at not being able to participate. Hope all had a goodly time!
