He was in the smithy with Michael for the pst few monnths now and then it was coming close to dream's celebration, He knew he could not make it and was saddened by that...so he was inthe smithy and had Michael start someting for him and he then came along and finished it, He remembers his coming here to Windstorm and how Dream was there for his joining and Knighthood...he was touched and saddened not to be there the day off, so he had an idea and went to make her something, it would not replace him there but would let her know he was thinking of her....and so he smiled...He would have it delievered to her room.....it was a vanity and bench he made, the mirror was bejeweled, the wood was a finished oak..the bench seat could be opened to store items in, even had a brush made to match the set and a jewelry box as well....inside the box was a locket, silver with gold trim and letter under it, it reads...
Dearest Dream
I am sorry I could not be there for your celebration. I started this before your special day and hoped to be there to present it to you, but duty calls. I do hope you enjoy the gift. Am thinking of you My friend. Please enjoy it and your day. Till soon My friend.
Kyle
He had that taken to your room in the castle and left with a bow on it
Do enjoy My friend. Thinking of you)))

She had spent many days and weeks, since hearing of it, in brooding over a fitting gift. Something good and fine and beautiful, something meaningful yet not necessarily useful other than to adorn the wearer, something costly and unique and enduring …. the perfect mirroring of the milestone and the Lady herself who would wear it. At least Letha hoped she would! They had gone round and round, she and the silversmith. He had to understand, and he did not seem able for some time. It surely couldn’t have been that difficult! It were not until Letha presented her payment for the work that the cogs seemed to click into place. By the instant light that sparked his eyes, Letha knew the gem was worth more than what she had hired him to do, and she shot him a firm look in return. Wetting his lips, he nodded. He were an honest man, aye, and he muttered that he would make it good. Beyond good. Perfect. And forecredit beyond, if need be, for future work. She knew he’d be fair, and it made prying the gifted emerald out of the curved grip of her hand less painful. As time crept nearer, she’d become a nuisance, hovering and pestering, fearful lest he not complete it in time. Some days she found the doors locked against her, and she could do nothing but trust. Twas not til the dawning of the very day that she found the treasure at last hers to give. Her expression was entirely immersed in the exquisite detailing of the Master’s completion, and she barely remembered her manners as he slipped away, satisfaction his greatest payment. How he had managed to etch such an explosion of minute detail into such a small space took her breath from her. Each petal, each tiny point of light reflected from the specks of white jewels… how had he ever been able to set the ten tiny keys about the bar beneath the silver roses without obvious seam or rimming…. Letha shook her head over and over. Perfect…. Now, if miracles upon miracles would align the universe, and she could hand the gift over herself... Letha's joy would be complete! ((Kyle, I do hope you don't mind me adding to your thread... and My Dear Dream, I am hoping against all odds to be able to get to see you "face to face" later today to give you your gift and honor your amazing achievements! But not only the day but the entire week has been an almost comical conspiracy to keep my mind split a hundred directions! Know that I have not only thought of you these weeks leading up to your celebration, but stand in awe of your Dream herself, and even moreso, the lovely soul who is behind her... of all the folks I have encountered online, you are one of the most enduring and treasured... Enjoy your day, even if Letha cannot decorate it ))

*She had known nothing of any arrangements being made behind her back, no knowledge of celebrations being planned with neighbouring Castles and homes, in fact she was quite oblivious, until the beautifully carved bench seat and dressing table had been delivered. It was quite stunning and crafted with such care and attention to detail, Dream had been quite taken back by the whole idea of gifts and such being bestowed upon her. Perran and several other lads placed it on the wall beside her bed, she had stood looking at it, lingering on the shape and form for several moments before actually picking up the small box and opening it to reveal a delightful locket. Her fingers traced the detailing on the silver and gold, her eyes becoming moist with emotions and also large with surprise. She shook her head in bewilderment as she began to read the note. Dearest Dream

Kyle "Oh my.......dear Kyle, how kindly ye are.......how most unexpected be yer gift but oh so very welcome." She placed the note inside the box and began to explore the piece in more detail. The lid lifted up and she smiled brightly at the idea of being able to store linens and blankets within it. The wood still gave off such an aroma, she knew it was Oak and as such it would last a very long time. She imagined for a moment leaving it to her Daughter when she was no longer among the living. Indeed it was a fine gift and would serve her well. Dream thanked Perran, quickly placing a few coins within his palm, closing his fingers about them with a warm smile. "For ye all to take a drink in the Tavern on me lad.......I am celebrating this day, all be it nae any others know such, except mayhaps Sir Kyle. Off ye go now.....and be safe." She waved them away and closed the door again, smiling still to know that at least one person remembered.......... ((Darling Letha, I adore what you have written and described but shall not acknowledge it as yet because I am hoping you may find the time to write more here. It was wonderful to see you in the room at the celebrations but I missed your leaving. Those gatherings are just too busy hmmmm *VBS* We will get to spend some time together soon I am sure.))

*She had been busy with the preparations. Now.. she was busy with the aftermath. But oh she gloried in having pulled it off. It had been hard enough to get everything arranged without alerting Lady Dream, and then there were the gifts. They had been delivered to her from left and right, from several people. And then there was her own. But first she would offer the gift that had first arrived, Lord Dieter's. With a smile on her lips and a magnificent gown spread over opened arms so she would nae crease it, she went looking for her friend.*

(( Gosh that is just beautiful Dieter, thank you so very much ) *Edfeil found her as she began to tread the staircase that led down to the Great Hall, her smile brighter than of late turned into that of sunshine when she was greeted by her Queen. An exchange of words, with Edfeil telling of how Lord Dieter had gifted the gown and how much trouble she had keeping it a secret, Dream just stood there, beaming and trying to still the tears of joy that were welling in her eyes. "Oh my.....oh my......how exquisite it be......and simply suiting me down to the ground my friend......how could he know my tastes in fabric......oh my......I shall wear it when next I am in the Hall for all to see." Edfeil held the gown in front of her as both ladies admired the stitching and the use of fabrics, nothing quite like a new gown to give ladies something to chatter about!* "Now I do feel even more special..........can such a day become any better?"

The light within her friends eyes was a simple delight to Edfeil's heart. Oh aye, this was what it was all about, to show her how she was loved, and that people delighted in making her smile.
I know... *she agreed with yer assesment of the dress* "t seems to me he made a special effort to capture ye within the fabric somehow. 't sumptuous colours go so well with the simplicity of the cut... Now, I may have told ye that his was the first gown to arrive for ye, but.. ah.. 't was nae the last. I hope ye will forgive me, me friend. But I.. had to be a wee bit deceitful. I so wanted this to be a surprise ye see. So I had yer keys ah.. well, I borrowed yer keys and then I used some of the storage. For the food and the wine of course but also for some more of the gifts. *She blushed a wee bit* Ye see I knew nae all of yer gowns had made the move well. Or at least, I thought nae all did. So... when people asked about gifts. That is to say.. .*she stopped herself from waffling, and just grinned. There was a warmth and a sheer happiness in her eyes.*
There be more.

Dream tilted her head as the reality of the situation finally grasped her.......she laughed softly. "Ohhhh the keys.......ahhhh I knew I was nae so forgetful......'twas cunning ye were my friend.....but very clever indeed."
She smiled brightly as she gathered the new gown within her arms, hoping not to crease it nor damage the fine cloth. Her eyes were moist and thankful as she spoke quietly to her Queen. "I feel so humble and honoured.....yet I do nae feel so worthy of more gifts." Pausing for a moment she offered one more gentle smile before continuing. "Thank ye for all ye have done for me since I came here.....I could nae have stayed......I can nae stay without ye beside me. Together we can look forward to the next decade within our home."

*She chuckled* Aye.. I was clever. And for once I was tricky. I needed something to distract ye from what was going on, and what I did worked, aye? It kept yer mind on something other completely. Windstorm be built for the ages, me friend... *she added and nodded to Millie to bring a cup of Cider for both of us.* Now... did I mention there were more gowns? *Her grin broadened as the large chest was brought out by two grunting guards. It could be that one of them mumbled something unflattering about ladies and their dresses, but iffen such was the case a look of the Master sergeant quelled him easily and Edfeil nae heard any in her delight over the things she was about to share. Before opening the chest though, she looked over at ye. Her words were soft as were her eyes.* Ye nae trust yerself enough at times, me friend, or the love of those around ye. I nae went to stand along the roads as a highwayman making people send gifts at the point of an arrow, or bring their wishes and their love by a stand and deliver. Ye inspire more than ye imagine.... *the laughter that interrupted her own words tinkled like a bell* But here I be speaking philosophy and there be finery to be admired. I have been hiding these for so long I have almost forgotten meself how they all look.*Small hands opened the heavy lid of the chest and happily awaiting her cider, she pulled out the next garment.*

*Dream settled beside you in the Hall, watching the men carry in the heavy chest and stifling a chuckle as they did so. She listened to your words with an open heart, taking them in and nodding gently, yet still after all these years she still doubted her worth in the eyes of others, even her Friends and family. Her smile lifted, this was no time for self sabotage and people had been so kind in their well wishes and enthusiasm for her celebration. She watched you pull another gown from the confines of the chest and her eyes opened wide with appreciation. "Oh my......how delightful.....pray tell me who 'tis gifted this fine gown to me my friend. I adore it so!......we are so blessed to have such talented dressmakers aye!" ((Thank you! How very kind )
