I love the Olympics. Like to watch what I can, which is not that much. Love to read all the stories and feel so much for the athletes who have worked towards these moments their entire lives. So.. here is an Olympics thread! No disparaging comments about any countries. Calling the judge a blind bat can be allowed under certain circumstances though usually they are people devoted to their sport who make high pressure judgement calls under difficult circumstances.
So.. any Olympic moments? To start at the beginning, I LOVED the opening ceremony. Literature, sly British humor and pagantry.. what is not to love!

Well, I have to admit I was so thrilled when we actually got the 'yes' way back when......and just a few day after wards that horrible, devastating bombing on the underground and bus......it kind of took over from the excitement and inevitable proud feeling we all had. Quite a year for us Brits that was.
Leading up the the ceremony I did not read anything about it, purely so as not to be either disappointed or as it happened, totally amazed and near to tears at times watching it *L* Yes I am an emotional woman, I hold my hands up to that *S* I thought it outrageous and just so over the top in a way it just had to be British *L* The little things made it just ......work. Even when the staging and greenery etc was being taken away and replaced, it all just worked. Choreography was just perfect and I really was so proud of everyone taking part. I can only imagine how they all felt and for how long the 'buzz' will continue. Very well done to all.
The athletes, well again I am always in awe, being one who does everything slow, once again I can only imagine what it must feel like.....the talent they posses, the stamina, the energy...its electrifying and just so passionate in so many ways.
I was brought up to believe it was not the winning that mattered, but the taking part....I have done the same with my lads. I doubt this is the case as obviously they have worked most of their lives to win......and to that end I really do applaud them, each and every one of them.
My only hope is for after wards.......the buildings and the area......I truly hope the legacy will live on for future generations of British people for many years to come.
