Lady Jessamine,
It is with deepest regret that I slip this message under you door like some common thief, but I fear it is the only way this can be done without repercussions. The life of a sell-sword is a sketchy existance in the best of times but I fear these are far from the best of times at this Keep. Following several assassination attempts on the Queen, this kingdom has seemingly fallen under a cloud of doubt and suspicion, and I have failed to help them with these issues as well as my own.
The Queen has a good heart and has done what she can to make me feel welcome here, but I fear that her protectors do not agree with her assessment of my character, and the recent arrival of this Trost character has done nothing to help my cause. Upon hearing their assessment of his crimes and the numerous voices calling for his head, I fear my link to this man, though slim, will be my undoing. So, it seems my time in this kingdom is at and end. I shall depart by morning light on my usual route to the outer grounds so as not to draw any unwanted suspicion upon myself as I make my exit.
I would ask one favor of you if you would - I have recently purchased a steed from the Stable Master after returning the one the Queen has allowed me to use in my inspections of the Keeps security risks. Enclosed is the reciept for said animal and should suspicious voices find it necessary to accuse me of making off with one of the kingdoms beasts, I would that you might show this to the Queen so as to at least salvage what is left of my reputation. I wish you well in your endeavors and hope that you find a home here that fulfills you. It has been an honor to know you.
Your Servant,
Connor Mac Roth
