The atmosphere had been tense within the courtyard. Any reply from Fryseland had been longer in the waiting than they'd expected. And when the first rumours had come about a ship nearing Windstorm's harbour, 't was nae certain who it was or what should have happened.
She could nae help but notice that Goodman Wallis had taken a position in the shadow, longbow at the ready and kept the archers on alert. She'd called for Dorian. Sarah and Cara too had gathered, as well as the Frysian crownguard and Gregor.
And then came the tiding. It was the Glori.. and she was flying the Royal Pennant. Relief came, but she nae dared to believe in it. Nae matter how both Gregor and Dorian assured her that Ulbrecht would have rather sunk the Glori than letting her fall in enemy hands... she nae was able to let go of the anxiety until the carriage arrived from the harbour, surrounded by the remainder of the Frysian crownguard and King Magnus appeared. He was well. Johan seemed well too, as was Ulbrecht. And even Harald, who was cradling his arm nae seemed nae too changed by the experience though his eyes, roaming over the women present seemed slightly harder than she had seen before.
She managed to hold things together in her formal greeting, yet when he reached out to her, the tears started to flow and she sought relief with the man standing beside her, trying to hide the tears. THey nae had time for tears. They had a wedding to organize.
