*He sat within the tavern that had been his home for what now, felt like an eternity....Having recieved no word from this Capt Richards fellow, nor any word or oders of any kind from anyone, he takes a last pull from the ale that he ordered, and stood up.
Stretching once, he then takes his Leave of the place....settling his bill with the innkeeper/barman, he thanks the man for his hospitality, and walks out.
At the door, hitched to a post, is his mount..Mortis..he smiles gently to the animal, patting his nose a bit and speaks to him...*
"Well Mortis old friend, looks like we may have missed all the action! Ah well, time now to return to Windstorm..at least for awhile at any rate...We shall see how things have fared there yes?"
*Mounting to the saddle, after unhitching the steed, he turns the great animals' head down the roadway as he had come...and began the trek back at a leisurely pace. The Knight listened to the creaking of saddle leather, and the muffled "bang" of his packed up armor...choosing to ride in leather jerkin over chainmail, with sword strapped to his back, hilt upwards for easy drawing should he need it.
His mind wandered to those living within the walls of the Fortress Windstorm...Ladies Edfiel and Loxley, as well as Lady Beren and Lady Rayven..hoping that they were all safe and sound within the walls of the castle..
Riding a goodly distance until nightfall, whereupon he made camp at an old, seemingly well used, site just a bit off the road he lit a small fire, and took bread and ale that the Innsman had kindly provided for him. Settling his back against the trunk of a tree, he allowed his eyes and mind to wander of thier own accord.
His thoughts turned to Rayven...and he wondered if she were angry at him...considering his method and speed of departure, with no word to her. Well, he thought, I will find out soon enough I suppose...shrugging lightly, and taking a last swig of ale, he settled himself to get some sleep....*
