Your Majesty,
I write to you on three issues, my quill forced to paper as we see each other very little. The first concerns an apology to made to you. Know such was done when you walked out in haste, with matters to attend to. Yet I fear they have nae been heard.
The word wench within Kent is one used for a servant of the house of Kent. It is a word with no negative lilt to it, and as such was used in your house without any realisation such was frowned upon. I apologise, and have done so to Becca as well. I understand and yield to your word. It will not be used by me to refer to any within your household.
While on the subject of the Becca, I inform you that the girl has been asked to be added to the Lady Badhbh's entourage. Becca has agreed to this. However all will remain as is, untill my sister has spoken personally Windstorm's chatelaine, M'Lady Dream Loxley.
I bring before you also a matter of ......concern. Something I need your advice on. Is it acceptable within Windstorm to touch the weapons of any without consent, and while handling them, taunt the other within your own home? Referring to a guest as a coward, knowing full well that to start a fight would be an insult to the house of Windstorm?
I would greatly desire your word on this or if you so desire to discuss this matter with you, as it is a matter of honour.
Last, I request to send for my bird of prey, Ra. With your consent he shall be housed in your own falconry, or if so desired anywhere else.
Hoping for your words to council me within the customs of Windstorm and acquiesce a favourable answer to my request in the matter of my bird Ra, I await,
Through honour, bound to God
Sighehelm of Kent

*sitting at me desk, once again in the over stuffed and damm comfy chair that I almost live in. Upon reading the scroll by the one called Sighehem, I take quill in hand and pen a reply.*
" M'lord Sighelhem,
I am the one that should be making an apology. I must say that some times me temper gets the best of me. I do apologise for me aprubt departure, but duties once again took me away.
As for the word wench and the discusion that took place afterwards. I did nae scold thee upon this word M'lord, mearly stated that we do nae call the ones whom serve us, "wench". We do understand that many other homes, villages and kingdoms do have different ways when it comes to the treatment and basic standings in the communtiy and households. These ways take time to alter to be more of our ways.. which is to treat those whom serve, with diginty and respect. Iffn thee belive that I was angry with thee use of this word, I was nae angry , nor upset. I simple was stating the guidelines we abide by. Iffn this be the case.. then I am sorry, for twas nae the case.
As for the lass becca. I leave this matter in the hands of the Lady Dream Loxley, for she be in charge of the hired help of the castle and is most trusted in this charge.
I must say, thee last topic ... has me a bit concerned. First, the matter of touching another's weapon, without said consent.. this we do frown upon, and personally I take a verra serious frown upon this. I hold my personal weapons to be a part of me, and I do nae like to be touched without concent...
The addition of this..taunting.. that I would take as a verra serious jest... or challenge. It would depend heavly on whom is doing the taunting.. and the circumstances . An example would be with friends in a tavern, and its a playfull round of taunting from brothers in arms. ..
Iffn there be a disagreement with someone of me household... towards another... "guest", then bring this to council, I shall let the rest of council know, but will require names, examples .. times dates. so that we can investagate this and deal with it in a manner which shall provide honor to those envolved.
Now.. the last item.. one that strikes a bit of.. intetrest with me, for I have a few birds of prey myself. I have nae a problem with providing housing and care for ye own bird, just let me know what breed and any special needs or requirements that shall be needed. Also iffn any.. certain safety issues that the tenders may wish to know... good help is hard to find.
I do appolgise for the means of reply, but as stated, me duties keep me away from home a fair amount. Iffn thee have any other questions , comments etc. Please feel free to seek me out, or send a missive.
Agustin Stormblade King of Windstorm Castle
* with that, I quickly reroll the scroll and seal it with a blob of wax and me personal seal pressed firmly into it. Into the hands of the eager young marcus and off it goes....*

(OOC and for the record...Hello Agustin,
I saw Sighe complain about his weapons being touched. Let me state the incident as I saw it.
It was Sinold who “played”a bit with Sighe’s weapons when Sighe was in the room with him. Yes, it was a bit a baiting, but never did Sinold call Sighe a coward or insult a guest of WS verbally! That I want to have on record!
At the time it was Sighe’s players and my hope that we could resolve the tension between us in a manner similar to what happened between Sinold and Hawkmoon, hence the taunting. Yes, Sinold was hoping Sighe would be picking up his weapon and they could smash in their heads.
Sinold has been feeling quite protective towards Edfeil, and Sighe’s eyes on her does not sit well with Sinold. hence the tension, hence the touching of Sighe’s weapons as a means to bait Sighe.
I thought this was all IC. If Sinold’s behaviour deserve a beating or some other “discipline” once he is back from his travels, so be it.
Sinold & his player)

OOC: eep, this IS all IC! Not even sure why it would be thought of as OOC.
So just to make it clear. Sighe may dislike Sinold with a passion by now, and think him an uncouth dishonorable Norseman, *grins* I have nothing OOC against the player.

-He reads the letter, while he sets the tankard of ale to his lips. he glances along the first few passages. An eyebrow raised at wording chosen. A small smile appears, and he nods approvingly. Indeed the words make him sit up more straight and a moment her rests the letter on his lap, just drinking his ale. Then runs a hand along his itching nose, as if he has the urge to sneeze.
His eyes seek, but not find a single flower, and he wonders if his champion has been at work here. The smile increases and he feels the itch dissipate, then reads on.
He realises the second issue, that of the hand maiden Becca has been resolved to his contentment. He has been watching the girl, and tends to agree with his sister, there is much to admire within the girl, even though he has yet to see more of her skills. He wonders how she deals with the wear of his dark leather breeches, the two white linen shirts torn at the elbows, one frayed at the cuff, and more importantly, his leather tunic, always suffering from the broadsword strapped to his back.
The matter of Sinold places him at a dilemma. He know how the Princess Edfeil values the Norseman, and he will not add to the image she has of him, other then the picture Sinold allows her to draw of him. Also he has witnessed tempers flare up between The good Captain and the high strung Norseman, and the frown it caused with the King. He will not chance such. He treads thin ice as is when the king is in the Hall.
But foremost he would not wish the smile on the Princess’ face to fade when she see him, knowing he is like any hot headed buffoon, who settles differences with the sword. He once vowed his father that his hand would never be lifted, steel in his hand, but to protect the innocent and weak, drive away the oppressor and aggressor, or to honour an opponent in good humoured practice spars.
His position, away from the Land of Kent, would not be merited by any challenge to Sinold. And thus, he had decided to remain mute, silent, and let the fool play his little games. The question now before him was simple. Would he seek justice from the Windstorm Council, or solve the matter himself. The King’s words ensured him the customs here at Windstorm were no different than they were at Blair Atholl. Either choice could be made justifiable so. Could he gather enough to give evidence to the council? Also would his position at Windstorm be served by having Sinold rebuked, asked to come before the council and explain? He doubted it, yet was this reason enough to watch the fool Viking get away with behaviour that would never be tolerated at many a court Sighehelm had been?
Again he ran the hand along his beard. Perhaps he should seek someone’s advice..his brother for one; the Princess Edfeil another. Both would be able to advise him on the consequences of his next step. He nods and reads on, again a smile appears.
Ah, the King enjoys the hunt as well. The tall man is sure Agustin will like Ra. He will write his Master of Mews, Dunstin, asking him to send Ra, his own Gyr Falcon, Lucifer, his auburn Gyr falcon, and Evabelle, the white Merlin. He knows Dunstin will comment when he reads Evabelle will travel as well. A most unprecedented occasion. Ra has travelled afore, as has Lucifer….the sleek Merlin female never.
Perhaps their love for the majestic birds of God’s hand will allow him to spend time with the king, without the sting of controversy, as Tyrun mentioned, “spend time with the man. Join a few tankards’. Instead he would impart on the king his love of Falconry, one of his passions.
He leans forward, and finally sets pen to paper.
---------------------------------------------------
Your Majesty
On the matter of the insult I ask you to allow me time to decide if the blemish upon my honour warrants the steps offered by you. I thank you for your assurance that in this aspect your ways differ not from those of Kent.
Also I thank you for allowing me to send for my bird Ra. I take the liberty to instruct for three birds from the royal falconry to be sent to Windstorm; the birds to be escorted by Dunstin, Master of Mews. As I know he will not part easily with Ra, I ask your kindness in a room for him as well. One more from Kent I fear.
Two of my birds, hand reared and hand trained are gyr falcon’s. They desire no special treatment, nor food as all this will be carried by Dunstin as well. He will instruct your men as to the proper mew, cadge and care. Ra receives very little additional food to what he catches, he is fully trained. Lucifer is a year younger and will receive some additional food, his hunting techniques have suffered as he was wounded his wing last fall, but has since fully recovered. Evabelle has just been manned, waking the bird has been long but she is finally used to the glove.
If it pleases your majesty I would wish to gift Lucifer to you, a fine bird, larger then Ra, though he is younger, and easier to control. You will enjoy him much. My final request is the following. I wish to gift Evabelle to your daughter, the Princess Edfeil. She has expressed a interest in the birds of prey as well, I have no doubt fed by your love for the winged jewels of the sky.
Evabelle is like your daughter, strong, beautiful, and about to spread her wings, and take her rightful place amongst peers and subjects. It would give me great joy to see both set off and enjoy who they are to the fullest. It would enable you to teach your child, and perhaps if you permit allow me to teach the Princess some of my skills. Additionally Dunstin could teach her all about the white Merlin, his is the achievement of manning the bird, though she has quite will of her own.
-he rereads the letter, counting the requests and he laughs soft, yet each of them respectful, the gifts of the two birds no trivial matter. As many hours, days, weeks, months have been spent next to them, training them. He signs with a flourish-
I await your word with respectful eagerness.
Through honour, bound to God
Sighehelm of Kent

M'lord
I am touched by thee willingness to gift meself and me daughter with birds of prey.. and I would be please to add a falcon of such to me own collection. As for the gift to me daughter. I am nae sure iffn she would be interested in such a gift..for she be one whom does nae like death of any kind.. and I do nae belive she would like having a bird that kills other birds and rodents for food or sport. However, I shall leave this up to her to decide.
As for the need of a room for another from thy home.. I am sure the Lady Dream shall be able to find sutable quarters for them.
Agustin Stormblade
