As time passes like the seasons in life, all things change. Sometimes things change for the better and some times for the worse. As a part of our human nature we learn to cope with these changes and they shape and guide not only our lives, but how we live our lives and what choices we make, affecting our very personalities and outlook to life in general at different stages of our lives.
One thing comforts me through the many changes of life, and that is the people who have been constant in my life even if a bit erratic on occasion. My oldest school friend I have know for nearly 30 years now (and yes folks I am in my late thirties to give you an idea of how young we were when we became friends). At different stages of our life we hardly saw each other, but we always knew the other was a phone call away. We have been there to comfort each other when we needed a friend the most and our friendship has survived a 10,000mile separation and in the last 10 years the extra factor of her loyalties for time being with her husband and kids. And yet no matter the time lapsed from our last visit, be it 5 years or 5 days, we pick up exactly where we left off.
That is just one example. I choose her because she is not family. I have the same type of relationship with family members and a handful of my closest, oldest and dearest friends and for that I feel very blessed.
I feel blessed because I can count on their friendship not disappearing, even when I have no time to see them as often as I could before or wish to now. You will often hear my mother complain that she just sees me for 5 minutes everyday (and we live in the same house). Life is just too hectic these days.
My work has sapped every last ounce of energy out of me to the point that it has started to affect my health. I am now suffering the 5th bout of bronchitis in less than one calendar year.
So what am I saying? I am saying a few things. One is that I am sorry I have not been around to roleplay for months on end now. The other is that I am sure there are others who are part of our online family in my predicament or in a predicament that means that this season in their lives they cannot be online as much as they were before. And my message to all those able to roleplay regularly and those who are not able to as much as beforeā¦.. is that it is nice to know there is a place on line that we can call home.
A home is made out of strong bonds and a home can survive absences, disagreements (not saying there are any just never heard of a home or relationship that does not have some turbulence) and change.
Like all ships out in stormy waters thank you my Windstorm family for keeping a beacon on to let me know there is a harbor I can dock in when the seas around me are calm.
