Had to share this with you all........ you know how I love my birds and wildlife...... well, yesterday morning just after breakfast, my Husband had begun to carry on working on the rockery/alpine garden we are renovating.......well, he happened upon one of our cats who seemed to be risking life and limb and getting wet to 'rescue' a small bundle of twigs!
Well, the twigs turned out to be a very small bedraggled baby bird, that must have fallen from the adjacent fence, now safely held in our cat's mouth, very delicately I must add. So, my Husband calls me, as they are so want to so in an emergency *L* and after my initial fear that the tiny creature was so wet and shocked, it began to show signs of life as I very carefully dried it off and warmed it in my hands.
We were obviously concerned that the parents would not return, but after an hour or so, the baby seemed none the worse for its adventure, all dried and fluffy again, we had locked the cats away and placed the baby into the apple tree. It seemed very content to chirp away and flutter about for a while.
We had a couple of cups of coffee and dutifully sat and waited, a goodly distance from the tree.......and finally, the parents returned, and off flew the little family together!
This morning I am certain the family returned to feed on the feeder and perhaps to show us all was well *VBS* We still wonder if our cat realised what it had done by saving the bird....or was it just curiosity or a very tiny meal *L* If it had not been for the cat, the birds would definately not have survived...... so....... I prefer to think she saved it *S*
