As we all know, if the scrolls have been read and digested...Windstorm is situated upon the Northern coastline of Cornwall in the United Kingdom......This is England, set in the Middle/Dark ages. Within the scrolls are many detailed descriptions of the Castle and its surrounding area, along with pictures that took a while to find. Of course this is only the basis for our environment, but perhaps if we all keep to what we read, we may all stay a little more 'together' in our writings and such. Many times I have wondered about the weather as described in some splendid posts...... we differ there to some extremes at times. Perhaps being in England I simply have to look out of my window and see a damp, dreary day when I am reading of snow covered ground and freezing temperatures. Personally I find this rather difficult at times *S*. To this end, I propose that we have some kind of link to the English weather for Cornwall, or I simply post what the weather is...........either way, again, it would keep the idea of where we live and play somewhat regular. Snow is not so common here, although the West Country (Cornwall) does get more than where I actually live.....and perhaps in the Medieval times it did indeed see much more in the way of what the Americas see now. Just an idea I have thought about often, and I believe one that is not too difficult to procure. Your comments and thoughts are most welcome of course. www.bbc.co.uk/cornwall/www.nationaltrust.org.uk/coastline/www.shimbo.co.uk/walking/ncornwal.htmwww.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk/

Yayyy! You did it! I've been poking around in your links just a little, and think the idea of getting us all on roughly the same page would be nice . . though it's just so hard not to think of Cornwall as frozen and snowy just like here . . (and far more dramatic to be shivering and fighting your way through snowy winds *grins*) I'm not sure a day by day report is necessary, or you'll burn out in no time . . but perhaps each month or something would be nice . . And didn't Willow mention something automatic that other rooms use? (I do remember some discussion, but not all the details) Thanks for the links!

Good idea, Dream! I've often see people come in, shaking the snow from their boots not long after someone else came in soaked from the pouring rain!
I like your site, Sighelm, especially since it has a C/F converter for those of us still using Farenheit! If WS is in the north, then perhaps the Barnstaple conditions would work? (although I'm not certain that area is still Cornwall....)

Very good website Willow........and you mentioned being able to add a link or something?
Barnstaple would work its the nearest Town, we don't have many actual Cities.
The area (County) is small enough that the whole part would normally have the same weather, so it does not really matter.
I am glad you have enjoyed the links..... you can see why I love the area so much.

Well, most ideal would be if anyone has access to the front page, the "door". A link could be placed there so anyone walking in could click it and see the weather before they enter the room
I suspect it is possible as the message board scroll is on it too.

(although I'm not certain that area is still Cornwall....)I think Boscastle and Tintagle are closest to where WS would be situated. Right now we are having heavy snowfall and a thunder storm brewing in the thread about bringing Lady Grace to WS

Yes indeed Sinny....... if Windstorm is situated where Tintagel Castle once stood... then Boscastle is nearest..... I was referring to the nearest Town on the weather link.
And yes...a storm is brewing...... so.. perhaps the link will not be needed after all.

-Is utterly lost- Why would the link not be needed?

The difference being between 'needed' and 'wanted' Sighe........my suggestion for the weather continuity was just to enhance the role play, not to cause other people to change how they write or how they perceive a situation. So..... perhaps it may not be the best way forward...... I was hoping for more input by members and those who enjoy the boards and room.......we shall see.
The front page is only accessible by the King I believe... so one would have to catch him and discuss it.

-smiles- I am not sure what happened here. -smiles confused still-
I still think the link would, like Agustin said, work towards "the betterment of our Rp atmosphere. Bravo. I think it is a grand idea. What better way to add a bit of realizim".
Granted some of the RP on the board would use weather not "fitting" the actual state of affairs, but then boardplay can and should be allowed that freedom.
The weather link works best in the room. And I for one still think it is a GRAND idea! Besides which I know it works. I have seen it in action in another RP setting.
Don't think the idea should be disgarded like this.

Sighe... nothing happened... nor have I disregarded the idea.....I thought about it for a long time before actually asking for comments. I have lots of ideas, many of which are best kept to myself. ;D If council and the King agree, then go for it.... I have no way of doing the actual 'mechanics'. On reflection I do wonder if it will work best in the room..... we have enough trouble getting people to read the front page as it is......and the idea was simply to add realism to the boards also. I know the idea of storms and such is often the basis for writing, after all..... in the movies it looks so much better to be fighting the elements! As I said before..... it will only work if people wish it to.... its like many things in life... and I for one would never do anything that would in any way stop the freedom we have on this board. I appreciate your comments and would refer you to the Kingly type dude to set things in motion.

The difficult thing with board play is that one "day" can last for weeks in play! (Especially for very slow posters, such as I! *blushes*) So in that sense, it's very hard to reflect current weather conditions! Don't give this up, it's still a very good idea!
