Do not let anyone say the Norse would not be an inventive people. Sinold had just proven that adage right again last night when he had "invented" a new kind of food preparation – the Norsewich!
Two thick slices of bread, spread with butter on one side, then in between them as thick slices of meat and cheese, all put together in one handy package. It tasted great, it satisfied any man's and woman's need and it was compact enough to be taken into the field for longer expeditions when wrapped in some parchment.
When Sinold had presented his invention to the Lords and Ladies of the court last night, the Norsewich had met a broad acceptance, even if the enormous size of these filled breads made eating them a bit of a challenge for the womanfolk. Well, it was a manly kind of food, the Norsewich, and could easily feed two women of delicate size as was demonstrated by Ladies Beren and Rayven who shared one of Sinold's constructs and still were sated when finished.
It was a guest, Lord Thanatos, who even suggested an improvement to the Norsewich by adding a leaf of lettuce to the bread-ham-cheese-bread pile.
Other than that, the evening ended amiably. Sinold had finally stepped up to Lord Sighehelm and expressed his gratitude for his brother's hospitality in Kent. He also apologized to the Lord for mayhaps being too critical of and rude to him... at least now these two men would be on peaceful, if not loving, terms with one another.
All in all, it was a good evening, and with two Norsewichs in his stomach, sleep came easily and soundly.
