Raimbault had raised the Lords of Burgundy to help in the rightful quest to help protect the lands of Lhune from any retaliation by the no doubt pissed English who would be getting a nice visit by De Sennis in a short few days from now. If Lord Aymer thought he could stop them… that old fool, damn English friend. Alas, Vinzelles had been clear on one point – no matter what, Aymer de Vraineville and his family were taboo for Raimbault. Baaah!
Entering Lhun, Raimbault and his men 280 strong met very little resistance, especially after they explained why they had come. Their explanation with sword and bow was very convincing, and the old warrior smiled and rode on to the capital of the realms.

*as iffen God were on our side, Lord de Vraineville's missive reached us just in time . It bore tidings of some Burgundy Lords and their soldiers who would hold the lands of Lune hostage. At first , I was surprised to read the next words of Messire de Vraineville : "Do nae resist to this ...welcome them, make them feel at home, distract the Lords and their men with games and such...and await further word from me "
Reading on ,a smile crossed me lips as the good Messire de Vraineville explained his tactics . I have given me men, who are with Ye to protect the lands from situations like this, strict orders on how to act as well...all I can tell Ye is, that the Burgundy Lords be in for a few surprises. Yers sincerely, Aymer de Vraineville
The timely arrival of the missive allowed me to explain to me council and act as was asked. A herald had already been sent to welcome the troups. Now, standing on top of the stairs of Lune's main mansion, I have an excellent view on the colourful banners and the glittering of weaponry make their way toward the city.
Letting me gaze wander over the men standing next to me -the council of Lune and a small detachment of the city Guards with Lord de Vraineville's men amongst them-I wish for only one thing : that our Lady Beren be safe and well in her far away land...*

It still rankled Raimbault that he had been send here, to this dreary land, instead of being allowed to sail with his Lord to England to show those fools what it meant to incurr the ire of the Frankish king. And of Vinzelles de Sennis. oh how it bugged him not to be able to see the dumb faces of those Windstormians when they would be facing those valiant Frankish soldiers and knights.
And what did he do? Ride through mud into this God forsaken stretch of land… after the first few attempts to stop them, any signs of a defense had stopped. No soldiers, no road blocks to halt their advance… oh these people here were as docile and idiotic as Vinzelles had told him.
Soon the towers of the main settlement cam into view. it looked like a proud town, a well-off town. good…. at least his soldiers would not lack food and drink here. Maids would come, and if they didn't… they would be brought to his men. Maybe this assignment wasn't that bad after all, if a whole lot more boring than what De Sennis had embarked upon.
Riding up to the main gate of the castle overlooking the town, Raimbault gave his men the sign to halt. Himself, he rode up to the small group of dignitaries who had assembled to welcome him. Baaaah, like sheep!
"Messieurs, my name is Sir Raimbault de la Cottáire, I have come with my men to offer you my service in protecting your realm. if you may wonder… protect you we must from the new Viking threat coming to your and our lands from across the sea, from England. But fear not – my king, Charles the benevolent and kind, has asked me to serve you with my men. And serve I shall…"
If only not you, fools, Raimbault added silently, indicating a bow as he still sat on his horse. "We will find lodgings right away and later at dinner you may ask all to your hearts' desire… Although, if there be any questions now?"
A flick with his hand and he heard his men readying their weapons. Not taking them out of their sheathes, but making sure they would be easily available in case these simpletons would try to say Nay after all.
