As he parted company from the Lady Rayven, after they checked on the little pup that she left in the hands of the stable boy, James, his mind went over the discussions of the evening.
He agreed with Sinold, that the Lady Edfeil would in no way make herself an unwilling captive of the Franks by being the Emissary of Windstorm, that would almost certainly end in grief. Yet he knew where her desire stemmed from...after all, she IS a Lady of the Realm!
Insofar as any war with the Franks was concerned, he knew that if he were still within King Stormblade's Realm when it occurred, his own "Code" would bring him to bare his sword in Defense of his hosts' Lands and people. He hoped that King Agustin would understand that he was unable to "officially" Swear Fealty to him, as his own Lord had not totally Released him in his Service...However, his own Lord would look unfavorably towards him were he to "cut and run" when another friendly Monarch were threatened. So his own choice in the matter was non-existant.
Now he came to Lady Rayven...What on earth possesed her to volunteer herself in place of Lady Edfeil?....He realzied that she knew the language, yet still....Mayhap he over-reacted, but then again, perhaps not...He knew that the idea that she may be captured and unspeakable things carried out by those Heathens, made his blood boil.
Sighing loudly, he thought also that she would do as she felt...he could only hope that the King would be steadfast in his refusal of her offering, and she would be kept from harm.
Riding slowly towards the village Inn where his rooms were located he made a note that on the morrow, he would go to the field behind the Inn and keep his swordsmanship up to par..it had been awhile since he practiced, so was long over due.
