Even though I am on vacation, and supposedly 'resting', I still have some 'inspiration' to write...wanted to share this with ya'll...
A Winter Scene
Bundled in boots, hats and mittens
riders await a sleigh ride
runners on soft, wet, newly fallen snow
make it an easy glide
As the horse drawn sleigh makes its way
across a snow covered plane
the snow glistens like freshly cut diamonds
the beauty of winter anything but mundane
Ice covered rivers, ponds and lakes
many a snow covered mountain peak
a breathtaking vision without a doubt
something I could behold everyday of the week
Snowmen, they are dressed in their black top hats
many a front lawn they adorn
sadly awaiting the warmth of the sun as they melt
returning to the original state in which they were born
Children are bundled to ward off the chill
the air it is crisp and cold
looking like miniature abominable snowmen
they truly are a sight to behold
Skiers and sledders make their way down the hill
anticipating the thrill and adrenalin rush
making many a trip on fresh fallen snow
before the spring thaw turns it to mush
Ice skaters glide on frozen rinks
until their legs wobble and tire
they retreat to find shelter and regain their strength
as they gather around the warmth of a fire
Mulled wine, cider, cocoa and hot tea
provide warm comfort for our bodies and souls
flannel sheets and electric blankets don our beds
as cream of wheat and oatmeal fill our breakfast bowls
Snowflakes falling from dismal skies
reaching their destination without a sound
I so look forward to the blanket of white
when the winter cycle once again comes around
