A quick update of a new milestone in my little boys life: he negotiated his first stair step today! Well, not really of a stair but there is this one step between kitchen and living room. He manages to get up there. Can someone tell him to stop! He is barely eight months old. He should not be doing stuff like that!

Bills grandfather died today. As he was 100 years old, we can't say it came entirely unexpected, but still... we did not expect it at this time.

It's never easy to lose someone as special as a grandparent/parent, no matter how many sunrises they've been blessed to see. My sympathies to you and your family.
((and thanks for yours in the May thread, Dream, Eiluna and Eva))
We traded in our rock hard hand-me-down mattress for nearly the exact opposite . . . one of those insanely thick (15 inch deep!!) new feather-tick soft pillow-top ones. So each morning I have to tug the way-too short sheets down over the corners like a girdle!! ;D

We are having record breaking temperatures here of 100 degrees and more. And it is only june. I shudder for august. It makes it too warm to spend much time outside, unless early in the morning or late in the evening. Unfortunately my mothers visit is coming to an end. I hope I will manage on my own again, it was so nice to have help. Oh, and I have a proud anouncement: I managed to get my beginners permit to drive. Now only the practical exam and I will be ok. Shudders. We plucked the duvet from our bed a week or so ago. Even with the airconditioning it was just too warm. Your quilt is now on the bed, Letha and is very much enjoyed! It is wonderful to have the room again to put the treasures my friends made out to be used and admired. A few days ago we used your coasters! And as you saw in the pictures, Joseph loves Dreams quilt as well!

Ouch. I am having excruciating toothpain. I had a toothache for the last few days but wanted to wait till Bill was back to contact the dentist. He returned on sunday and I got an emergency appointment with my dentist today. Unfortunately he could not help me and refered me to a specialist. He only could squeeze me in in an emergency appointment today at 3 pm. We had to take my mother to the airport today. We tried and tried to make it work. But Bill had to call from the airport to say he would not make it in time. I called friends. But no one could make it. Then the neighbour offered for her husband to take me. (they are eighty years old and such a blessing) Unfortunately while the husband was out the airconditioning blew and they had to take the car to the dealership immediately. They are eighty years old, it is over 100 degrees here, there was no way I could ask them to do a half hour car trip in this heat. I had to cancel the appointment and the next one they had available is in three weeks! Tomorrow I will go to my doctor and hope she can refer me somewhere else for an emergency. The pain shoots all the way to my ear. We've been having a run of ill luck this last week, from the profound (Bills grandfather dying) to the silly (sewing machines blocking, etc) . I just hope that we get this teeth thing dealt with soon, so Bill and I can get back in a routine!

Eva, so sorry to hear of Bill's Grandfather... and your horrible tooth! Something like that can really drain the energy out of you from dealing with pain all day... But! Nice you have the joy of the future carrying on with life... and the little milestones. *S*
Dream, good to hear you are going for a nice rest!!!
Life has become more complicated and stressful.... My mom needed a second surgery for breast cancer a week ago, and from that they have found it has spread to the lymph glands... So, she will start chemotherapy in a couple of weeks. I'm trying to stay calm and centered, as I am her biggest support, my brother a close second. I suspect I won't be around too much, as last month, but will be peeking in when I can.

Ouuu Eiluna . . your poor Mom! Willing you all an inexplicable peace and patience and hope through all of this. It's like a whole 'nother world inside the walls of a medical center. May you find things to make you all smile when you need it most! How I wish I could swap some of my chilly weather with your southern heat, Eva. We have our pool all ready to use, but I refuse to submit my antique skin to hypothermia! Right now it's growling ominously to the west, but is bound to go around us and hit the eastern side of our waterlogged state again. (and hopefully one of the dentists will have a cancellation to squeeze you in soon!) *Just hugs Dream to pieces* I vote we declare a two day moratorium on STRESS!! (or more, if it wouldn't be too unseemly greedy?!)

I am going to agree with your moratorium on STRESS, Letha! Today actually is shaping up well. Joseph is behaving well. I think he just needs to be fed more. Another growth spurt no doubt. Last night was not that great, sleeping wise. Since he kept crying between 4.20 and 5 am. I did not get out of bed until 5 though! A few weeks ago we would have been thrilled with Joseph sleeping every night between 9 pm and 4.30 am. I guess you get gready quickly!

I have been rather quite and just not around as much as I used to be. In either here or in my own rooms as it where.
Edfiel I am sorry to hear about your Husband's grandfather. At lest he got to meet and know his great grandson. ( so I hope)
I get married in 2 days, 14th of June and the stress is now getting to me. I should have taken up my father's offer on the eloping to Vegas and been done with it. I hope all is well for everyone and that you keep cool where ever you all are. As it is here, its windy, slightly wet and grey, its feeding my rather not good mood right now. Saturday here is to be sunshine, and about 74-80, one thing about living up here, little to no humidity so mostly dry to deal with.

Sounds like you're in for a perfectly lovely day for your wedding, Xavier! (Bless Dream for the special thread in your honor) I'm reminded by the quote I saw yesterday that just made me smile: "Next week there can't be any crisis. My schedule is already full." (attributed to Henry Kissinger, who would know the meaning of crisis if any!) It's been yet another full week for us, although good things to celebrate more than not, as it seems some of the rest of you are as well. Both my youngest offspring are now employed *whew* and my "baby" is moving to her own apartment very soon! So the empty nesting is about to begin in earnest. And Happy Father's Day to those of you who celebrate it as well!

Thank you, Letha!
We are hanging in there... joined support groups at the Wellness Center. Chemo doesn't start for two weeks, keeping my fingers crossed that she won't have tooooo horrible a time with it. As for medical centers, I have had plenty of experience with them over the years, with infertility, surgeries, and procedures with my daughter, so at least I am not intimidated by it all!
However, I DO agree with the moratorium on stress! It just needs to be done away with!
Eva, sounds like your boy is growing well... what a joy!
