This thread is intended for the sole purpose of receiving letters. Sometimes we want to keep in touch with characters in another realm, but can't afford the time to travel there. In this thread letters from everywhere, including from within Windstorm, can be received. If you send a letter to someone from a different castle, please use their messageboard. Over time, some castles are interested in developing their own letter thread. Hopeful this might stimulate some wonderful in character gossip and loveletters storylines developing throughout the world of medieval RP. ;D You can add a few words on how the message looks or how it was written or how the messenger looks but for more general character or npc roleplay, please feel free to just open a new story thread ont he board!

*the missive was delivered to one her majesties servants by a messenger bearing the crest of Windstorm. The scroll illuminated with a gold band and sealed with the royal seal itsself*

Your Majesty, I am gladdened to hear that you grace our lands once more with your presence. I hope you will allow me to do all that is within my power to make your stay pleasant and safe. ~The missive stepped up to the castle, entering and kneeling down before the Queen, removing the missive, folded with the seal of Camelot in his hand. Waiting until it was taken, he then stood and stepped back, assured it was received by the one to whom it was to be delivered before departing. Waiting deligently away from Her Majesty, he stood in silence for Her to read in case she wished anything further of him before turning to depart.~
~Inside the missive read.~
Twas our pleasure to welcome those of all lands to our castle, Your Majesty, and it twas an honour to see thee again. It hast been so long and to see ye and so many whom I hae naught in such a long time was such a joy.
So much hast changed as ye hae found, and the one thing which ye hae spoke of in thy missive, I must say I was surprised ye hae discovered. It was done in a touch of secrecy until the larger ceremony could take place in Camelot before mine people and the lands of Camelot.
A larger ceremony wilt take place howe'er we art naught sure if it wilt be afore the coronation or aft at this time. Seems there is so much which is happening now, but aye, tis truth what ye hae heard. It brings such joy to us and it was a surprise to me, but with the sadness which had filled the day with the passing of a friend, the joy was needed, mine love had felt.
And so it did change the feel in the air that day, and when all had left who were present, they felt better, and we believe that Tarthos was looking down 'pon us that day with his blessings also.
I do thank thee and ye wilt be invited to our ceremony, both, and all of Windstorm as ye know each of us. Again, I do thank thee and it is such a pleasure to be able to speak with thee once more.
Many blessings 'pon thy home and lands,
Cheialare, Queen to be of Camelot

*the missive had been entrusted to a guard, who had been sworn to secrecy by the queen herself. A direct order from the queen, something seldom given had send him to the rooms occupied by the tall man of Kent*
To His Highness Prince Sighehelm of Kent, from the pen of Edfeil R of Windstorm
My Lord Sighehelm, last we met ye requested a private audience. I would like to grant ye such at yer convenience. I have spoken of the matter with Master Sergeant Gerben and while he nae wishes me to leave me guard completely behind, he be confident ye will see to me safety, upon simple request the man that acompagnies me will remain out of hearing. Iffen ye prefer it will be Master Sergeant Gerben himself who will be on duty at the appointed day. I would invite ye to speak of a time and place for us to meet and I will be there to hear ye.
May ye be loved and blessed, Edfeil R.

-Sighehelm was not one to face away from fate, so when the missive arrived, he accepted it, smiled respectfully, thanking the messenger. At the moment there would be no immediate reply but the assurance to her majesty that he would return word with utmost expediency. With that he closed the door, and looked at the document in his hand. His cough was mild, and as he passed the table near the fireplace he placed the document on it, moved to his bed. He was cold, yet his skin felt warm. It was this way most mornings, however not all any more. He strectched out, covered himself staring at the document. His coughs did not stop just yet, on the contrary laying down intensified them. Odd, how he always tried it nonetheless. He sat up, the covers around him, never once breaking his gaze upon the scroll on the table.
He should read it. A last convulsion of his lungs and he stood up, walked to the fireplace, adding wood to the fire. He was doddling so his mother would say; wasting time so the queen would say. As the logs caught fire, he turned around, grabbed the letter, and sat down to read. There was surprise on his face. Not because she referred to his request, but that she would acquiesce to meet without a guard at his wish. He had but few wishes, and all revolved around her, some simple, like knowing who it was who had set up her embroidery frame these past years, others were more intense, like wishing to possess her, protect her, love her, support her, all of her. He expells his breath slowly, for his physical cravings are strong, intense, to his embarrasment oft hard to mask. Then he sets about to answer the letter.-
To Queen Edfeil of Windstorm
Your Majesty, Pebble Mine – these last words he blots out, using ink to darken the letters, making the words nae more than a nink stain-
I write this letter in bold words, words on paper which will nae hide what I do choose to mask in public. My feet have wandered here as my heart dictated. As such I wish to speak of personal matters. Matters which concern the story of the Pebble and the Rock. I will nae need you to travel beyond the safety of thy guards. I will call upon ye in the after noon of the morrow. I hope I will be allowed access to your private chambers.
Through fire to honor, bound to God, your loyal subject,
Sighehelm

*the missive had been carried by a homing pigeon and was in the Queens elegant script, adressed to Master Sergeant Gerben, the words scarce by necessity*
Storms and tides have kept us at Camelot. We will remain here until after the coronation on the 21st and set sail back to Windstorm on the 22th day of Our Lord. Our visit here has been uneventful and happy. Convey my love to all and assure them of my swift return.
Edfeil R.
Another message was added at the bottom of the tiny scroll was another few words added.
All safe for now. Lan.

.. A rare raven, darker than what is usually seen of raven.. lands on a sill of Lady Edfeil's window ..attached to the it's leg seems to be a note ..once landed, it would pick at it's leg, waiting for the Missive to be removed .. once done, it would fly off, Meddling into the darkness of night .. the missive itself, once unraveled would appear to hold no writing, just a empty piece of parchment ..until the moonlight would hit the parchment .. suddenly, deep red runes would appear, as if it was written in another language for a moment until the letters would appear to you in high common/English, reading the following .. "Lady Edfeil, It is Not Often I write to you, however, circumstances have lead me to send you this secret missive on hopes of keeping a wary eye out. Lately, I have observed much in Camlot, and the News does not seem to be good. The Knight who apparently upholds 'The law', Sir Owen has recently raised a large army -- at my last count -- over six thousand men at arms and and ten thousand archers ..as to the purpose of this Massive Army, I have to Question ..My investigations has heard He is preparing for some Sort of Attack from the Forces who control Darken Woods or the Sargasso Sea, but if so, then these invading forces must be a ghost army for I have seen no outward aggression from these places to Camlot itself .. I understand that Sir recently separated' from the Lady Wynter and accused her of Murder, recently proclaiming her a traitor ..yet I see no solid proof for such charges and I am to understand that Owen has declared martial law within Camlot ..while the royalty of Falsworth and Queen Cheialare has been unusually quiet .. I have to question whether or not if Owen is hiding behind the vaile of 'Justice' and Right to grab at power, and if his sense of Justice and Honor has been confused for his thirst for vengence on his former Wife, Wynter .. I have seen these signs before ..many times in fact.. last being Draakar's grab at power in the former lands of Kielder Highlands .. and we all know what happened to those lands .. I have warned Queen Caera Anne of the kingdom of Caernarfon just as I am warning you of these events, to bring to light these questionable actions of Sir Owen and the strange silence from Queen Cheialare .. in no way am I asking for interference on your behalf, as this is no doubt an internal matter ..however, I would advise caution and to keep a wary eye on Camlot .. I will see what more I can discover, and discover the whereabouts of the royals .. once I discover anything more, I will inform you and Caera as soon as I can .. Valkryn Valdrin Jabbuk"

*It was with redened cheeks that she wrote the small note, and despite the fact it would nae leave the castle, she sealed it tightly before asking a lad to hand it to Lord Sighehelm. And she hoped he would understand.*
My Rock of Kent,
After mass this morn I went to confession. For the next ten days I am but allowed to see ye in the compagny of others, be they guards, servants or nobles. I must ask ye to pritthee pray for me soul. I beg for yer understanding as Father fears me behaviour would lead me on wide road to darkness.
Be loved and blessed, Edfeil

~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ ~With heavy heart, sitting down to respond to the queen’s letter.~ To Edfeil Stormblade de Ruoma, Queen of Windstorm From the hand of Caera Anne Gynewdd, Regnant of the Kingdom of Caernarfon
Your Majesty,
Your letter brought much comfort to my burdened heart. For at this writing I have not yet heard the fate of our sister prince, Cheialare anointed queen of Camelot. The Black Knight, Lord Robert has told us Jeramiah Falsworth, King of Camelot has died. When the Black Knight was here, his last word on the Queen was she still lived; I have sent on your words to Camelot and pray the bearer of the missive might be able to place it in the Queen’s hands.
When word first reached us of the plight of Camelot by messenger, I gathered what forces I could and led an attack on those laying siege to the castle. By the valiant efforts of the Baroness Ka’Trina and Lord Sirhc, they were able to bring needed supplies to the village and the town. We did what we could and hope our efforts brought more time for those in the castle.
Then Lord Robert came to us asking we join in the effort of a combined attack to retake the castle and village, Prince Tomas and I agreed to be a part of it. With more advance notice we were able to bring greater numbers with us. Our knights and Commander, along with the archers and foot soldiers we brought along fought with valor and we can only hope our efforts made a difference. When our forces were ready to drop from exhaustion, we needed to withdraw. We await news.
With resources stretched thin across our kingdom we are unable to give as much as I would like to. Many years ago, I recall tending to the wounded brought back from great battles with the Orcs in Windstorm. They were the bane to Agustin, in the early years of his reign. They are now mine. They believe we hold a hold relic that is sacred to faith in their gods. They have already taken the Abbey not far from Caernarfon Castle. The only survivors of the attack were a handful who was able to escape when the assault began. We now need to find the larger body of Orc; as yet we have only been able to find their smaller camps.
From the information we have been able to gather from Orc prisoners and intercepted missives, it is a kingdom called Grynwall is behind the Orc uprising. Previously it was only a place I had only heard of it stories to frighten bad children into being good. It seems it is very real and only now we are learning of the threat they are to Caernarfon.
With all of the trials we are dealing with, your gracious offer of sending some food stores and medicinal herbs is gratefully accepted. And with what we had taken to Camelot, it greatly depleted our already low stores. If you will accept gold in payment, I would be grateful, that I have, but lack the goods to exchange for your offer.
Repsol’s visit brought great comfort as will yours if you are able to come. I do look forward to having the opportunity to speak with you at greater length than our last brief visit.
With warmth and affection, Caera Anne of Caernarfon~The parchment was folded and sealed with red wax and green ribbon, and pressed with the seal of Caernarfon. ~
It was just a scribbled on folded piece of scrap parchment which was handed to Repsol, he opened the note, it read....
Me Leige and foremost friend, The encampment is in readiness for the arrival of the remainder of our troops, we are to the west of Caernarfon with a great sea to our rear, the supplies are ready to be sent forth upon word from thee, tis a wonderous place indeed, though ye can nae ever be too far from our own, I await thy arrival.
Your friend and servant
He chuckled at the writing it certainly was not one of his friends true attributes, a reply was not needed as he would see him in a matter of days, he would mayhap arrive before his reply, he paid the lad..
Up on the gate before the heavy drawbridge a leafs lay. So green that one sure understand it comes from beyond the spring or even by the spring itself. The breeze nae even touch it but gently can be touched by the one that picking it up.. for the breeze is there only to watch the leafs comes to the right hand. Up on the great green leafs lay three acorns, four grass strews in a pattern of course. What do this symbols mean? of course it is a prank says the "modern" man, mayhap witchery says teh man in rob with his cross around the neck. But one who walk with the old, one that follow the path of nature The Old Ways nods with a smile. For this is a letter, this is a message, from nature itself. A message from its spirits the fa'ae.. and what does it tell?
There is a small stone a rune with a letter easy to see E, watching the acorns, the grass strews pattern even a peasant knows its is message to the Queen Edfeil. The message doesn't really speak a language as human write letters, this is more of an experience a way to show a first accepting of the first meeting far far away. The leaf is touched of a scent a scent of spring and Rowan. Mayhap Lady Edfeil will know at that first moment from who this has come, perhaps she remember the scent from a specific creature in a great hall far from here. They have deliver a message to tell the fa'ae does find the Queen pleasing and they are ready to take the next step in learning to know one and other...----------------------------------------- ooc: here is Annwfn's board dragonsmist.pengudesigns.com/forum/ we share it with another group so anything regarding Annwfn is only in the section called Annwfn - Fae land Peace..
